What does everyone think of [name_f]Rafa[/name_f], just [name_f]Rafa[/name_f]? Too tied to Nadal?
I also really love [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]. Which do you prefer as a standalone first for a boy?

I prefer [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] as a standalone name – it sounds less like a nickname to me
My twins have a friend called [name_f]Rafa[/name_f], which is adorable, but his full name is [name_m]Rafael[/name_m]
It’s curious because I’ve met a lot of [name_f]Rafa/name_f. All of them go by [name_f]Rafa[/name_f] all the time, but neither of them have it as a stand alone name. So I can picture [name_f]Rafa[/name_f] as a full name, and I really like it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] more than [name_m]Rafael[/name_m].
Thank you both. I do love [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], but short, punchy [name_f]Rafa[/name_f] feels more my style. I like that it’s soft but with a real energy to it.
LOVE Rafa. It has all the elements I love in a boy’s name - short, unexpected, bright, yet gentle. I’d consider using it, except with a surname that starts with the last two letters of Rafael, the name just bleeds into the surname too much. I know a woman named Rafa, so I’m partial to for a boy or a girl.
I like it, but not as a standalone (for me personally!) I think it’s reminiscent of a really specific, jaunty, laid-back personality type, whereas a [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] can pick his own nickname according to what kind of person he grows up to be. Does that make any sense? I love [name_m]Rafael[/name_m] though, I still keep bringing it up as an option for our baby boy.
Really like [name_f]Rafa[/name_f] on both genders. My first association is definitely Nadal and then [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_m]Byrne[/name_m]'s little boy. I find it definitely usable on its own.
I actually think it works. I think it is a clear diminutive, but if [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_u]Alfie[/name_u] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] are okay as stand-alone diminutive names, why not [name_f]Rafa[/name_f]? [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] feels incomplete to me, though.
For what it is worth I love [name_f]Rafa[/name_f], [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], and even Rafita. Such a cute name!
I think both are nice. [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] could be another option nn [name_f]Rafa[/name_f]
