Rafe (or Ralph?)

I love this name so so much! Any opinions on it are welcome. Here are some random thoughts of mine:

I don’t like [name]Ralph[/name] pronounced [name]RALF[/name] or RAHLF, but I love RAYF (I believe it’s the original pronunciation of this name). [name]Ralph[/name] Fiennes is a current bearer with this pronunciation, but I admit I had no idea who he is and had to look him up. Would it be best just to stick with spelling it [name]Rafe[/name] to avoid constant correction in the US?

On another site the name’s similarity to the word rape was brought up a few times. Is that the first thing people think of?

I kinda like [name]Rafferty[/name], but does [name]Rafe[/name] really need a full name? [name]Raphael[/name] is out because I have a son named [name]Michael[/name] ([name]Mick[/name]) and it’s too cutesy in my opinion for our Catholic family.

[name]How[/name] does it work with brothers [name]Logan[/name] and [name]Mick[/name] and sister [name]Ruby[/name]?

[name]Rafe[/name] [name]William[/name] or [name]Rafe[/name] [name]Albert[/name]?

Thanks!!

It is my brother’s name I and I always thought he lucked out with the awful [name]Ralph[/name]. [name]Rafferty[/name] has charm as does [name]Raphael[/name] and so does [name]Rolf[/name].

[name]Rafferty[/name] [name]Ignatius[/name] would be my choice.

I only just recently learned that RAYF is the original pronunciation of [name]Ralph[/name], and I also much prefer it. I will say, though, that it does remind me of the word rape, especially if it’s spelled [name]Rafe[/name].I really don’t have any advice. It was a name we tossed around, and I tried to figure out a way for it to work, but I couldn’t find one that worked for us. We also considered [name]Rolf[/name], but in the end, neither name was high on our list, so we dropped them.

In the US, I would use [name]Rafe[/name] or Raife if you want to get that pronunciation.

Definitely [name]Rafe[/name], but I agree with Brissen about it looking like Rape. Maybe Raife? [name]Ralph[/name] makes me think about vomit.

As much as I love [name]Ralph[/name] and [name]Rafe[/name] (with all of their pronunciations), most Americans will not get how they can be said the same. [name]Rafe[/name] is fine on its own and [name]Rafferty[/name] is very dashing. Either of those will be very nice. My favorite combination is [name]Rafe[/name] [name]William[/name] or [name]Rafferty[/name] [name]William[/name].
