Rafferty for a girl?

I’ve been thinking Rafferty Maeve (Raffy/Raffey)… haven’t heard this name on a girl before. Does this work for girl for others or is it just me?

Since it feels very surnamey and has a similar vibe to [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] or [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u], I think it works

Sorry, I do think [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] should be reserved for the boys.

I can totally see the appeal of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] for a girl. I wonder how Irish Berries would feel about it?

I mean, for me it works well, but I do not know what Irish berries would think.

No [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is team boy :blue_heart:

[name_f]My[/name_f] dad is Irish/Scottish (born in [name_u]Scotland[/name_u] to Irish parents) and just asked him to see whether he agrees with me. He said it’s a boys name very weird on a girl. Of course he’s an older generation but I thought a Celtic man could provide some insight :four_leaf_clover:

[name_u]Romilly[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] has similar vibes or maybe [name_f]Rafaela[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] with the nickname [name_m]Raffy[/name_m].

[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] with the nickname [name_m]Raffi[/name_m] / [name_m]Raffy[/name_m] can totally work for a girl, it’s not just you. Fits in with the surname trend.
However, it doesn’t really flow with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] in my opinion - the vowels/sounds are too similar and the ff’s and v kinda clash.

I am of the opinion that any name can work for anyone! Gender really doesn’t matter, if you love the name then use it.
And I love the way [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] sounds together. I think the vowel sounds flow really nicely.

Agree that I believe any name can work for anyone/gender. I think [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is super cute! I also love the suggestions of [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Rafaela[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]

I would expect someone named [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] to not be Irish. [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is not a first name in Irish culture. It’s a surname.

I think [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] would work on either gender as it fits that surnamey vibe like [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] or [name_u]Collins[/name_u]

I think Rafferty ‘Raffy’ Maeve is a lovely combination for a girl. It’s both feisty and sweet

I think it totally works! [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is gorgeous. Really spunky and nice. Raffey could be a beautiful little nickname, too. Super sweet. I’m a big fan! :hugs:

As an Irish person, I’m not fond of the idea of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] on a girl. It’s a masculine surname, and pairing it with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], a traditional girl name with hundreds of years of feminine history, makes it worse, in my opinion.

[name_f]Maeve[/name_f] [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] would be ok, or [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] or [name_f]Raphaëlle[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but the combo as is, is not my favourite.

I haven’t ever heard of it for a girl, but I like it! I think it has great potential, plus the nickname options.

I think it could work! It shares its rhythm with lots of popular girl names and [name_m]Raffy[/name_m] or [name_u]Rafa[/name_u] are cool for short.

Reminds me of Ruffles, so, sure!

Ooh I love the idea of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] for a girl! It has a lovely bouncy feel, and reminds me of many other surnames for girls. I actually much prefer [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] to [name_f]Raphaelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Rafaela[/name_f], which are fine but too masculine (Raphaelle) or frilly (Rafaela) for my taste. [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] is really fun and spunky!
