Hello… I am currently pregnant with my rainbow baby girl having suffered a miscarriage last year. I have my heart set on the name Alice… I’ve just always loved it. To me it is pretty, elegant, timeless and not as common as a lot of the other names out there. I just worry that it lacks meaning… should I choose something else to reflect the fact she is a rainbow baby or am I over thinking? (I do have a tendency to do this) I did look at the name [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (meaning rainbow) but I don’t love it enough. Would love to hear your thoughts thank you x

Congratulations! I definitely think you should go for the name you love. That’s much more important than meaning. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a beautiful name!

For some people, name meanings are hugely, amazingly important above and beyond other name considerations. It doesn’t mean anything negative if you’re not that style of namer!
Use the name you love and it’ll be the most meaningful, important name for you anyway.

I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] sounds perfect for you. It’s clearly a name you absolutely adore for a much-loved and long-awaited baby. I think that personal connection is more than enough meaning, and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is a beautiful name.

I think you should go with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]! You could use a name with more meaning as the middle name, for example [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] since [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] means hope. Some other names that mean rainbow are [name_u]Enfys[/name_u], [name_f]Itzel[/name_f], [name_f]Ixchel[/name_f], [name_f]Nisa[/name_f], and [name_f]Ziazan[/name_f].

I have had a rainbow baby and the name I was inspired with actually meant something and was poignant in this respect, which was a bonus. I think you could always look to a middle name with a poignant meaning perhaps? But as you love [name_f]Alice[/name_f] so much definitely keep that name for first name basis.

Definitely go with [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. You are not required to choose a super-meaningful name, the fact that you love it is meaningful enough.

I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is special because you love it!! I’d rather have a name that my parents loved than one chosen just because it meant rainbow

[name_m]Just[/name_m] go with what you love. If you find a name you absolutely adore and it has a special significance, then that’s fine. But the most important thing is that you love the name you give your baby.

If you are describing a name as “I’ve just always loved it. To me it is pretty, elegant, timeless and not as common as a lot of the other names out there.”, I think it is the perfect name for your child! I don’t think your child’s name needs to be based on there story. And if you love a name that much it seems like a fitting name for a rainbow baby.

I’m the same for my mom and she just went with a name she liked (which has conflicting meanings but most sites say it means “sea of bitterness”- “noble” is a very good meaning in general and by comparison, lol).
You’ll always know your daughter’s significance in your motherhood journey- go with the name you love.

If you like the name [name_f]Alice[/name_f] you should definitely go with it! People get very focused on meanings sometimes but I don’t think it’s necessary. If you love the name then that’s enough reason!

You are overthinking it!! You don’t have to honor your previous kiddo, but if you want to use [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and give a rainbow middle. 
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] is such a great name! [name_u]Love[/name_u]!
I’m a rainbow baby, so my mom named me [name_f]Kellie[/name_f], because it means “warrior”, like I’m a trooper, fighter or a survivor. So you could take the name meaning thing in multiple directions.
As mentioned, you could also use a middle name for it’s meaning. [name_u]Or[/name_u] it doesn’t have to be about the fact she’s a rainbow baby. There are so many other things that could define her.
I think the general consensus is in favor of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] as the first name, though. Too good to pass up.
Your love for [name_f]Alice[/name_f] really shines through. While I’m one of those people who thinks meanings are really important, [name_f]Alice[/name_f] does have a meaning that references strength, exaltation, and nobility of spirit, which I find more poignant than the literal meaning “rainbow.” I don’t say that to in any way discount your experience! I simply mean that you could broaden the definition of what a name referencing her being a rainbow baby could look like. You could look for middle names that have meanings of strength, hope, courage, perseverance, light after darkness, etc.

I would go with the name you love.
If you’re still wanting rainbow names, there are others out there. Off the top of my head, [name_u]Risa[/name_u] and [name_u]Isra[/name_u] come to mind immediately.
First, congratulations. You are strong and beautiful, and your new little one will bless you in unimaginable ways!!
If you have your heart set on [name_f]Alice[/name_f], use [name_f]Alice[/name_f]. Your daughter will never think she isn’t special, because you will make her feel special. And, if you want a special name, there’s always the middle spot. You could do something like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f], or a longer name with a less obvious meaning.
