Ramsey or Lawson?

My wife and I are down to these two names we think but not fully committal. We like [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] a lot (aware of the GoT reference), and I think the current name associations will fade, so I’m not too worried about that. More on the nickname for [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] that will inevitably crop up in school. Ramrod, [name_m]Rambo[/name_m], [name_m]Ram[/name_m], not great for a kid to be teased with.

[name_m]Lawson[/name_m] seems much safer choice but I think we like [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] a bit more for those who can handle it with some maturity (which won’t happen for many years for a boy). [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] nicknames not great either but at least not tease worthy.

Thoughts?

I always say go with what you like the most. I feel like if you go with the safer choice, you’ll regret it.
[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] is a very handsome name. The GoT reference will die in a couple years. And I kinda like the nn [name_m]Ram[/name_m]. I think it’s cute and badass. I don’t think there are very many nicknames that kids could come up with to pick on him.
I really like [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] but the lack of nicknames is troubling lol.
Good luck !

I don’t watch game of thrones. I much prefer [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], very handsome! [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] sounds trendy to me

I personally prefer [name_m]Lawson[/name_m]. But if you prefer [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], you should use [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]. [name_f]Every[/name_f] name is teasable, I don’t find [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] more ripe for teasing than other names. Good luck.

I definitely prefer [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]- I say, go for it!

I love the name [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]! I’m not aware of the Game of Thrones reference, though.

[name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] doesn’t strike me as more tease-able than most other names.

[name_f]Remember[/name_f] that people are using more and more unusual names. The next generation of kids will be used to more variety and things we see as unusual now might be more expected for them.

With that said, I personally love [name_m]Lawson[/name_m].

I really like both names. I think [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] is less common and sounds super cool.

[name_m]Lawson[/name_m] could always be called [name_u]Sonny[/name_u]?

I really like [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] or [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], and much prefer it to [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], which feels a little boring in comparison. I went to high school with a [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], and a few boys with the surname [name_m]Ramsay[/name_m], and none of really got any related nicknames. I also think the GoT connection will fade soon if it hasn’t already.

Not a fan of [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], makes me think of GoT and [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]. [name_m]Lawson[/name_m] sounds very handsome and refined.

I’m usually in the “current references will fade” camp, but I’ve seen game of thrones, and I wouldn’t want to name my baby [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] right now given the context of that character and the widespread viewership of that show.

Hello! My favorite is [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], but I can tell that you really love [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] (I’m not aware of the GoT references, I only remembered [name_m]Gordon[/name_m] [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]). I advice you to go with the name you love or you may regret your decision later! Good luck!
