I have liked the name [name]Finn[/name] for a long time now. We considered it for our first child. I feel like it is quite popular compared to our other children’s names so I haven’t been sure if it fits. I like the sound of it. It also reminds me of the ocean (like a fin on a sea creature, or fin on a surf board) I like ocean connections :). [name]Just[/name] recently I started liking the name [name]Franklin[/name]. It just barely occurred to me that [name]Finn[/name] could be a nickname for [name]Franklin[/name]! What do you think? I love when names that I like suddenly connect in more than one way. [name]Both[/name] of my children’s names have more than one meaning behind them which make them especially fitting to our family.
I don’t know if I will use this name in the future, but it is fun to have another idea to think about
Have you had this type of experience before? Perhaps you have liked a name for a while, but suddenly you realize that there is more to it than just the name itself? Or maybe it has a double meaning? It would be fun to hear your stories!
I never would have thought of [name]Franklin[/name] nn [name]Fin[/name], but that’s genius. [name]Delmer[/name], [name]June[/name], and [name]Franklin[/name] are perfect together.
I think that totally works–I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Fin[/name] as a nickname for [name]Franklin[/name].
This experience did just happen to me, actually. I like [name]Arthur[/name], but hate [name]Artie[/name]. Besides nickname [name]Bear[/name] (which I love, based on its meaning), it only just occurred to me that you could do [name]Arthur[/name] nn [name]Thor[/name]! [name]Love[/name] it.
Exactly the same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago, except I thought of nn [name]Flynn[/name] rather than [name]Finn[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it either way I also recently realised that [name]Merry[/name] would make an adorable pet name for [name]Emrys[/name]. I’d been trying to come up with a long form of [name]Merry[/name] for ages so it made me ridiculously happy to realise it could work with one of my existing favourites.
I didn’t even think about [name]Flynn[/name]! I like that name too! I really like the name [name]Merry[/name] and it would be so much fun to use with [name]Emrys[/name].
Agreed! [name]Franklin[/name] nn [name]Finn[/name] is really cute, and it fits so well with [name]Delmer[/name] and [name]June[/name].
For what it’s worth, yes, it has happened to me, too. I’d loved [name]Charlotte[/name] for ages, and the nn [name]Lola[/name] for ages, and I’d heard people say, “Oh, you could do [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name],” but honestly, I didn’t really see it, or I didn’t really like it as an option, I don’t know, but one day it just clicked, and I’ve loved [name]Charlotte[/name] nn [name]Lola[/name] (okay, and still [name]Lottie[/name]) ever since.
