While i was looking on [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]'s thread i saw this name , and iam like Why i havent thought about it yet ?? I love the fairy tale and all the assosiations but iam worring that its might be too cutesy for a grown up woman .
What do you think ??
nay or yay ??
Thanks in advance !!
PS I need your honest opinions badly because i think i have a new crush
[name_f]EDIT[/name_f] : I hit enter before i realised the title is wrong . Its it not i lol .
Not sure about the grown up use of this one…But, I do see the allure. Today, I was thinking about [name_f]Merida[/name_f]…
I vote nay for a first name, definitely. Maybe as a mn?
I love the ‘zel’ part but I’d probably go for [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] or Zelphine or [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] or something else to get it. However if you love [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f], use it!
And [name_f]Merida[/name_f] is such a nice name. I will be disappointed if it doesn’t become at least slightly fashionable.
Noooooooooo. Sorry, it’s just too much. Better fairytale names are [name_f]Belle[/name_f], [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]…
I vote nay, sorry. Naming a child [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] is more akin to naming a child [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f] than it is to [name_u]Ariel[/name_u] or [name_f]Jasmine[/name_f] or [name_f]Merida[/name_f].
I have to agree, [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] is just not name material. That being said, [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f] has been used throughout history, as shown by [name_f]Elea[/name_f] of British [name_u]Baby[/name_u] Names. (Sibling Spotlight for Cinderella - British Baby Names ). However, the usage does not necessarily make it a name. (Sparkal is a main example). Some underused princess names you might like are;
[name_f]Merida[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariella[/name_f]
[name_u]Fallon[/name_u]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Janessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Erika[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosella[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosetta[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]
No, I don’t think it is.
Thank you for your replys . I dont think i ever gonna use it . Maybe as a GP .
@ lawsonhaley : THanks for the suggestions
I love [name_f]Merida[/name_f] , [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] , [name_u]Fallon[/name_u] , [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] , [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] , [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] , [name_f]Odette[/name_f] & [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] .
@ namesgloriousnames : Today i was thinking about [name_f]Zelda[/name_f] nn [name_f]Zella[/name_f] actually . It really has grown on me . If only my BF like it …
@ godde8ss : [name_f]Merida[/name_f] is really pretty . I love the character and the fact that she was a red headed girl makes it even better to me
I vote YES.
I’m actually having a mini crush on this name right now.
C’mon people name their children [name_f]Princess[/name_f], [name_f]Empress[/name_f], Sparkle and [name_f]Latrina[/name_f]. What is wrong with [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f]?
I think it is along the same lines as [name_f]Hazel[/name_f].
[name_f]Cinderella[/name_f]… I think this is unusable mainly because of cinder- something burned or partially burned that is not reduced but incapable of further combustion.
Cinder is a word on its own (without a pretty meaning) and ella does not rescue the name
Rapun has some meaning but not in English in [name_m]German[/name_m].
I definitely think it is usable and I know I am going against the crowd but I never truly considered it as a name… before now.
@ gllnkles : I definetly thinks its better than all those names like [name_f]Princess[/name_f] , [name_f]Cinderella[/name_f] , [name_f]Latrina[/name_f] etc . People name their babies far more strange names than [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f]. And i just love the nn R , Zellie , [name_f]Zella[/name_f] . I think i will leave it as a GP and if i contiune to like it , i might actually use it.
@bellerose people definitely give their children stranger names all the time.
I’m loving this name [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] right now
[name_f]One[/name_f] of my guilty pleasures…but I wouldn’t be adventurous enough to go for it myself. It’s definitely out-there, but I’d tell you to go for it. It’s no stranger, to me, than [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], which has been used a lot lately, and is a lot more open to cool nicknames ([name_m]Zel[/name_m] or [name_f]Zella[/name_f]). Though if you decide not to go for it, I encourage you to consider [name_f]Briar[/name_f] or [name_f]Briar[/name_f]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f], which is beautiful, unusual and has the similar Grimm-classic-fairytale feel.
I don’t know if it was a good or a bad thing I read this thread… I want to name my first daughter [name_f]Rapunzel[/name_f] now.
As a middle name yes, as a first name, not so much…
I’m usually a fan of offbeat names, but…No. Nope. Not even a little.
