In my bible reading lately I’ve come across a couple of names that I thought were interesting. Would love to hear your opinions on them.
Nakoda
Zattu
Bashan (place name)
Tekoa (place name)
Shaphan
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any rare Bible names that you like? Please share!
Where is Nakoda in the Bible? It didn’t sound familiar, so I did a quick search but still couldn’t find anything.
I think any of the others could work. I’m not a big fan of place names, but wouldn’t find it strange. Zattu is probably my favourite.
I quite like [name_m]Jabez[/name_m] & [name_m]Adriel[/name_m]. I have a lot of semi-unusual biblical names on my shortlist, but not quite that rare!
@easterbunny Sorry it’s probably because I spelled it wrong. It’s actually Nekoda. It’s in [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] 2:48
Well, it’s there under that spelling and while I know it’s a male name it sounds more like a female name to me (Nekoda). Zattu’s still the favourite!

Cool thread idea
Bashan has a cool sound, the others are bit odd for my tastes.
I quite like [name_m]Jairus[/name_m], Joash and [name_m]Hezekiah[/name_m] (though not really rare, just not usable for me).

Well, they’re certainly rare…
Honestly, I think they could all work in this day and age. They all sort of remind me of other names (e.g. Nekoda - [name_u]Dakota[/name_u], Zattu - Zotto, Bashan - [name_m]Bastian[/name_m], Tekoa - [name_f]Tekla[/name_f] or [name_m]Koa[/name_m], Shaphan - [name_m]Shephard[/name_m] or [name_m]Stephan[/name_m]), so maybe that makes them feel more wearable. I wouldn’t use any of them but Zattu is very cool!
