[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
Here are my thoughts on your lists-
Girls:
Avery-It’s honestly not my cup of tea. I hear it on a million little girls I come across in real life, so I’m very tired of it & also think it’s cuter on a boy.
Ayla-I love Isla…is this said the same? [name_u]Or[/name_u] is it Aye-luh? The confusion might be a headache, but the pronunciation of Eye-luh is lovely.
Alma-This is a name that I really like in theory because it’s vintage & kind of quirky. I don’t love the sound as much, but am happy to see it on a list none the less.
Claudia/Claudie/Claudette-Another name that I’m not into, but if I met a little [name_f]Claudia[/name_f] I’d be very happy. It’s not trendy & it’s feminine and strong. I don’t like [name_f]Claudette[/name_f] as much, but the nn [name_f]Claudie[/name_f] is cute either way.
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]-
She’s my favorite! Top of my list name. It’s impossible to say without a smile & has such beautiful flower imagery.
Dahlia-I like this one too. It’s a pretty flower & it’s strong & feminine & different.
Ella-I love [name_f]Ella[/name_f]. I wish that it weren’t so popular. It reminds me of the roaring 20s and beautiful flapper girl outfits. I also like it as a nn for lots of choices like [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f], [name_f]Estella[/name_f] or [name_f]Luella[/name_f].
Eve-Sweet & pixie-ish. I like just [name_f]Eve[/name_f] & [name_f]Evie[/name_f] said with a long ‘e’. Evie/Evvie is super over done in my area, but they’re mostly [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] is sparkly & refreshing.
Erin-I don’t know. It’s not bad, but it feels a little dated. Doesn’t stand out.
Eloa-I’m not familiar with this name. All of these vowels make me feel like it’s missing something.
Faye-This gives me similar vibes as [name_f]Eve[/name_f], so I should like it, but just don’t care for the sound. Not sure why.
Florence-I don’t know…I like the idea of [name_u]Florence[/name_u] nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f], but [name_u]Florence[/name_u] feels stuffy to me.
Genevieve-I can’t get into this one. It’s hard not to picture on a snooty girl.
Hatty-That’s really cute. I think that I prefer [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] though. [name_f]Hatty[/name_f] makes me think more of a hat with an ‘ee’ at the end, whereas [name_f]Hattie[/name_f] feels more name-ish if that makes that sense.
Helena-I really want to like this…am slowly getting on board. [name_f]My[/name_f] friends’ named their adorable cat this last year, so that helped!
I like that it’s elegant & old fashioned & interesting & that you could use the sweet nn of [name_f]Nellie[/name_f]. I just don’t like the ‘Hel’ part.
Honey-Cute for a dog but just too cutesy for a human.
Iris-I usually like most flower names, but something about this puts me off. [name_m]Just[/name_m] don’t like the sound, but it’s a perfectly fine name.
Ione-This is growing on me. It’s cool & unique & sort of enchanting.
Ida-I love [name_f]Ada[/name_f] & [name_f]Isla[/name_f] so I should like Ida…but it’s just kind of clunky.
Jade-Hm, I don’t know. Does it feel kind of early 2000s dated maybe? I don’t love it, but it’s not awful.
Jane-This is similar to [name_u]Jade[/name_u], but much more timeless.
Marjorie-I appreciate the mid century vibe here, but just don’t love the sound.
Poppy-I think I feel the same here as I do with [name_f]Honey[/name_f]. I know a twelve year old girl named this. I’ve known her her whole life, & the older she gets the more awkward [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] feels as her name.
Rose/Rosa-I much prefer Rose; so simple & elegant!
Renee-That’s my middle name, & I’ve never liked it. Without the accent though. I don’t even know how to make that on my computer, so it could be a pain to use regularly.
Ramona-It feels a little heavy for me, but it’s a nice solid name that’s strong & feminine & not over done.
Sadie-That’s cute. It’s friendly & happy & old fashioned.
Talia-Ooh, beautiful.
Tara-I don’t know…never did like this one when I knew a bunch growing up in the 90s & now it feels a little too 90s.
Violet-I like this one. Sweet & vintage & just the right amount of bubbly.
Vida-That’s pretty & kind of similar vibes as [name_f]Ella[/name_f] but less common.
Boys:
Caden-You know, I love [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] & I’m not upset at [name_u]Cade[/name_u], but I think [name_m]Caden[/name_m] is a little trendy for my tastes…I don’t hate the sound though at all.
Daniel-That’s a handsome classic. I like [name_u]Daniel[/name_u] a lot more than [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_u]Danny[/name_u]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the nns? Not sure if they’re avoidable or not.
Denver-Kind of cool, but hard to picture on a person honestly.
Freddie-Super cute, but I like it better as a nn for [name_m]Frederic[/name_m].
Grant-It’s fine & solid; just always seemed so abrupt to me.
Giles-You know, I don’t think about this name a lot, but it’s refreshing to see. Kind of a cool choice!
Garnet-I’m always trying to like this for a girl, but it’s just a little too harsh. Maybe it’s neat for a boy! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the stone imagery.
Henry-Super handsome & adorable, but seriously every third little boy I’ve come across in the past ten years is named this.
Harrison/Harris/Harry-I like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] with the nn Harry…not sure I love [name_m]Harris[/name_m]. I also really like [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] with the nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m].
James-Solid handsome classic.
Luca-I love [name_u]Luca[/name_u]. It’s artsy & gentle but still boyish.
Leon-I like [name_u]Leo[/name_u], but for some reason [name_u]Leon[/name_u] has a totally different vibe that I can’t get into.
Laurent-Hm. Interesting, but not my favorite.
Nathan-That’s fine. It doesn’t excite me , but I don’t hate it. I like [name_m]Nate[/name_m].
Oscar-I like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] a lot. It’s quirky & old fashioned.
Otis-Love [name_m]Otis[/name_m]. Similar to [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], but more gentle.
Rowan-That’s nice. It bugs me that people use it for girls, because it feels totally masculine to me. I like the plant connection.
Raphael-I really want it to be [name_m]Rafael[/name_m], but I won’t be picky. This is still beautiful.
Rueben-I like it okay. It’s not my absolute favorite, but it’s fine & not too over used.
Rupert-A little too stuffy to actually picture on a real life person. Are you in the UK? I’m in the U.S, so maybe just not used to it.
Theodore-I like it. [name_u]Super[/name_u] cute with great nns. [name_m]Way[/name_m] popular though if that bothers you.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
