[name]Freya[/name](I love F names, as well as [name]Faye[/name] and [name]Farrah[/name])
[name]Isabel[/name](it’s my first choice now, but i’m worried about the popularity of it…)
[name]Matilda[/name](It grows on me recently, do you think it cute or old?)
[name]Scarlett[/name](my guity pleasure name! But I can’t find a proper nickname for it)
please rate them on a scale of 1-10 and comment on each one
thanks
[name]Cora[/name] - 8/[name]LOVE[/name], especially as a nn for [name]Coraline[/name]
[name]Freya[/name] - 5/Never been a huge fan
[name]Isabel[/name] - 5/Too popular, although pretty
[name]Matilda[/name] - 9/One of my faves, nn [name]Mattie[/name]/[name]Tillie[/name] but DH turned it down.
[name]Scarlett[/name] - 9/On our short list as well! nn [name]Carlie[/name] or [name]Lettie[/name]. Or just use the full [name]Scarlett[/name] :]
[name]Scarlett[/name] - I think [name]Scarlett[/name] is beautiful and daring - how about [name]Lettie[/name] for a nn?
[name]Cora[/name] - [name]Cora[/name] is definitely short and sweet!
[name]Isabel[/name] - I too, love [name]Isabel[/name], but fear the popularity!
[name]Freya[/name] - [name]Freya[/name] is beautiful and unique.
[name]Matilda[/name] - I think [name]Matilda[/name] is still a bit too musty for me.
Bounce
PS [name]How[/name] about [name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Isabel[/name]? Or [name]Isabel[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]?
[name]Isabel[/name]–in spite of her popularity, [name]Isabel[/name] is beautiful, yet sweet. I don’t like the frilly [name]Isabelle[/name] spelling and I hate the nickname [name]Izzy[/name]. But on the whole, this is my favorite from your list.
[name]Cora[/name]–I love her simplicity and spunk. She stands out yet is not unusual. I like this but I like [name]Coral[/name] just a bit better.
[name]Scarlett[/name]–Sorry, [name]IMO[/name] there is only one [name]Scarlett[/name] and that is she-with Ms. O’hara. It brings to mind Hollywood–not just the glitz and glamor but the debauchery and shallowness as well. [name]Coral[/name] is way better.
[name]Freya[/name]–All I hear is Norse Mythology. It might work for you, but it’s similar to [name]Venus[/name] or [name]Nefertiti[/name] to me.
[name]Matilda[/name]–just sounds like big black clunky shoes to me. Sorry.
[name]Cora[/name] - I’m big on short and sweet vintage names too, so I love this. I would use this is my #1 name wasn’t [name]Nora[/name] 9/10
[name]Freya[/name] - Very cute. [name]Ive[/name] considered this too! 8/10
[name]Isabel[/name] - Thank you first for spelling it the best way It has so much vintage, cute, yet mature appeal. I guess thats why its popular! 7/10
[name]Matilda[/name] - This seems a bit trendy for me. Also I don’t like [name]Matty[/name] or [name]Tilly[/name] for nicknames… 5/10
[name]Scarlett[/name] - I like it better with one t. I love this. I just find the name so intense! (in a good way!) [name]Letta[/name]/[name]Lettie[/name] for a nickname? 9/10
You have a nice taste in girl names!
I can picture “sisters” with these names such as:
[name]Scarlet[/name] & [name]Isabel[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] & [name]Freya[/name]
[name]Cora[/name] - 8 - It’s a sweet name, and, while it feels classic, it doesn’t seem poised to become overly popular. Among its virtues, it’s easy to spell and pronounce. My one worry with this name is that it may be too sweet.
[name]Freya[/name] - 2 - I know a lot of people like this one, but it’s just ugly to me. It’s one saving grace is that it’s not made-up sounding.
[name]Isabel[/name] - 6 - It’s popular for a reason (it’s extremely pretty), but too popular for my tastes. I think I’d use this as a middle name only. Also, I prefer the [name]Isobel[/name] spelling.
[name]Matilda[/name] - 9 -One of my favourites. This name really feels like it has a lot of substance to it. It’s less pretty than [name]Isabel[/name], but it has more strength to it. Also, I really, really like [name]Tilly[/name] as a nn. I wonder if it’s about to explode in popularity, though. I think [name]Matilda[/name] could lose some of its appeal if little Matildas are running around everywhere in a few years.
[name]Scarlett[/name] - 2 - I’ve never liked this one much. I strongly prefer [name]Charlotte[/name].
[name]Cora[/name] 7- v sweet and vintage
[name]Freya[/name] 5- pretty…
[name]Isabel[/name] 9- beautiful!!
[name]Matilda[/name]- 9- I love it- strong and womanly (it is popular in the UK so may increase in popularity over the water too, if that bothers you)
[name]Scarlett[/name]- 7- I like it
[name]Cora[/name] - I actually can’t imagine how this is pronounced in english.
In german it’s with a hard C and a proper hard r, which sounds lovely and would get a 9/10, since I know a little girl named that and it’s a lovely name for an adorable girl. If it’s pronounced like core, with an -a ending, then you get 7/10, because it sounds less lovely. I’d chime in and say: name her [name]Coraline[/name], beautiful name and you can still call her [name]Cora[/name] as a nickname.
[name]Freya[/name] - there was a horse named [name]Freya[/name] in a book I once read and since then it’s lost any and all hope of being considered as a name for a human. 4/10 but this rating shouldn’t stop you if you love the name, just never read that book xD
[name]Isabel[/name] - ever since I’ve encountered the name [name]Isabella[/name], [name]Isabel[/name] seems incomplete to me. I’ve started referring to people named [name]Isabelle[/name] as [name]Isabella[/name], subconsciously. 6/10. [name]Isabella[/name] would get 9/10 and it not getting 10/10 is just due to it’s popularity.
What do you think about [name]Isabelle[/name] or [name]Isobel[/name] by the way?
[name]Matilda[/name] - thanks to [name]Roald[/name] Dahl and the name being wonderful overall. 9/10 no 10/10 because it’s a great girls name, but I can’t imagine a woman called [name]Matilda[/name].
[name]Scarlett[/name] - [name]Scarlett[/name] Johansen ruined it for me. 5/10
[name]Cora[/name] - 7/10 - I love this name So vintage and adorable. A name that I believe would really stand the test of time.
[name]Freya[/name] - 7/10 I love this too, I live in the UK where it’s up there with [name]Isabella[/name] in popularity which is why I would never use it but I do think it’s so soft, pretty and sweet that if I lived in the US I’d definitely consider it.
[name]Isabel[/name] - 6/10 [name]Lovely[/name] name, way way way too popular!
[name]Matilda[/name] - 9/10 I [name]ADORE[/name] this name!! And no I don’t think it sounds too old at all. It doesn’t sound any older than [name]Ruby[/name] or [name]Violet[/name] does to me which seem to be favourite names on these boards! And to me it’s much more stylish and has adorable nn’s [name]Tilly[/name], [name]Tilda[/name], [name]Mattie[/name] and [name]Maddie[/name]. Definitely one of my favourite names, I’d love to meet a little [name]Mathilda[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] - 7/10 This is a guilty pleasure name for me too! It’s too trendy so I know I shouldn’t like it but I just do. But I agree with you about the nn’s. No one wants to call their little girl Scar :S
[name]Cora[/name] (8/10) - I’d love to meet a [name]Cora[/name]! It was probably the first name I really loved, when I was about 11. Four years on, I still like [name]Cora[/name], but not quite as much.
[name]Freya[/name] (9/10) Gorgeous name! [name]Cora[/name], [name]Freya[/name]. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Flora[/name] at all?
[name]Isabel[/name] (9/10) My real name. Which I like. But like you, I dislike its popularity! I think It’d make an ace middle name, though.
[name]Matilda[/name] (9.5/10) I also REALLY like [name]Matilda[/name] recently.
[name]Scarlett[/name] (7.5/10) I like [name]Scarlett[/name], but prefer [name]Violet[/name].
Thanks for all your opinions.
Now [name]Freya[/name] and [name]Scarlett[/name] are out, and i still need to choose among [name]Cora[/name](no nickname)
[name]Isabel/name
[name]Matilda/name
Which one do you like most? and why?
[name]Cora[/name]: I love [name]Cora[/name], it’s so pretty yet simple. 8/10
[name]Freya[/name]: I’ve really started to like [name]Freya[/name] recently. I think it’s pretty and a little exotic sounding without being too foreign. If that makes sense… Lol. 8/10
[name]Isabel[/name]: I love [name]Isabel[/name]! It has been on my list since 3rd grade, and 8 years later I still love it. It’s so pretty and elegant… I wouldn’t be too worried about the popularity of it, it’s gone down, even though [name]Isabella[/name] is number 1. 10/10
[name]Matilda[/name]: I want to like the name [name]Matilda[/name], because it has a nice sound to it, but I’m not crazy about it. All I think of is [name]Roald[/name] Dahl. 6/10
[name]Scarlett[/name]: I love [name]Scarlett[/name]. It’s beautiful and just all around wonderful. I can’t really think of a good nickname either. 9/10
My favorites are definitely [name]Isabel[/name] and [name]Scarlet[/name].
You really are set on [name]Cora[/name] as her actual name, are you?
is calling her [name]Coraline[/name] totally out of the question? because it’s kind of sad to have a name with no possible nicknames.
Out of those three I’d say [name]Matilda[/name] is my favourite
