Ready for a comeback?

Lately, I’ve been pondering names that have always seemed a little old-fashioned (possibly dated), and wondering if any of them may be ready to make a comeback.

Today, I’m thinking of [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. [name_f]Do[/name_f] we think this could be a “fresh” revitalization or should it remain in the past?

I’m particularly liking it as a middle name for a more modern first name…like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ava[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] (just examples).

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you love any other traditionally “old” names that you think are due for a comeback?

[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] reminds me of margarine. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like either one.

[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is pretty cool. I like the fact it lends itself to more modern sounding nicknames like [name_u]Rori[/name_u] and [name_u]Jorie[/name_u], maybe even [name_f]Mia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ree[/name_f]. That said, it does still sound a little hefty and clunky to me, but I like it as a midd!e for [name_f]Ava[/name_f]

I prefer [name_f]Margaery[/name_f] or [name_f]Margery[/name_f].

I agree with susette. [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] just ends up sounding like margarine, and when it has to compete to similar [name_f]Mar[/name_f]- names, those ones usually end up having the upper hand

I love [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] ! I think it can make a comeback

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]/[name_f]Margery[/name_f]! A few names I’m DEFINITELY ready to make a comeback: [name_f]Blythe[/name_f], [name_f]Myrtle[/name_f], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] and [name_f]Meryl[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. I think with the Game of Thrones character it’s ready for a comeback. It’s clunky but no worse than [name_f]Matilda[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. It’s definitely ready for a comeback. My husband didn’t want to use it ever, because he had a negative association. But it was the full first name of [name_f]Marge[/name_f] [name_m]Simpson[/name_m] ([name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_m]Bouvier[/name_m], I think?). And I don’t know about you, but I was practically raised by The Simpsons. Haha.

I think it might have been on my list since I was pregnant w/ [name_u]James[/name_u].

I really wanted to love [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] as it was the name of a special family member I would have honoured. However, I couldn’t get over the likely nickname of [name_f]Marge[/name_f]. I see someone else has posted the possibility of using [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nickname, which I hadn’t thought of (and like!)

[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] as a first name seems dated. However as a middle name, I find it surprising and fresh.

It’s sweet! Definitely unexpected. I also like it as a middle name. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is adorable.

[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] is an awesome name! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nicknames possibilities. It’s definitely due for a come back! Another old but good name I love that I hope will come back is [name_f]Wanda[/name_f]!

I like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] for a middle name, not as much as a first name. I [name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Rachel[/name_f] but it feels a bit out dated as well
