Real name for nickname "Sweet Pea"?

[name]Hi[/name]!

After a long and at times grueling process, my husband and I are in the process of finalizing the adoption of a precious baby girl. Throughout the adoption process, we have been calling her “Sweet Pea” and it has really stuck – even our friends and family are calling her that now. Thus, we would love to find a name that somehow relates to a sweet pea! I’m not sure how easy it will be, but I figure we can try

We have thought about [name]April[/name], because sweet pea is the flower of that month, but my DH isn’t sold on it – he thinks it sounds a little dated. I like it. We have also thought about using the initials S.P., but are lost on what names to combine to make them. Any help would be so deeply appreciated. Thank you all and I hope everyone is having a [name]Happy[/name] New Year!

  • [name]Whitney[/name], [name]Will[/name], and soon our “Sweet Pea”

[name]How[/name] cute! I quite like the name [name]April[/name], although I have to agree it does sound a little dated. The initials are a great idea…either S.P. or simply have her first name start with P. For example, you could name her [name]Penelope[/name] and call her “sweet [name]Penelope[/name]” or just “sweet P” for short. I think this is less of a stretch than using initials S.P.

Congratulations!

[name]Happy[/name] new year to you, and congratulations on the adoption! Sweet pea is a sweet nn for a baby  It’s what my cousin was calling her LO before he was born too. You could certainly give her any name starting with P to relate to the nn. I think [name]Pia[/name] would be a really cute option.

My honest opinion, though, is that you should name her whatever name you like best and just use Sweet Pea as a nickname. I think it’s one of those terms of endearment that really doesn’t need to be related to the actual name, even if it’s what you call her most of the time. I just don’t want you to feel you have to limit yourself to names related to Sweet Pea. Sorry if that’s totally unhelpful! I’m sure we can help you think of options for SP initials if you decide to go that route. What types of names do you like? Any favorite S or P names?

Any name beginning with P would work for you:
[name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Perla[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name]
[name]Perlina[/name]
[name]Perrine[/name]
[name]Petunia[/name]
[name]Phillipa[/name]
[name]Pippa[/name]
[name]Piper[/name]
[name]Polly[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name]
[name]Prudence[/name]
[name]Primrose[/name]

But as a term of endearment you can use it for any name (eg. my name is [name]Bethany[/name] and my Dad calls me sweet pea…)

You know…it might be cute if you paired a really beautiful ‘S’ first name with Pea as her middle name. Its unconventional, but kind of funky imo! Maybe something like [name]Samantha[/name] Pea or [name]Selena[/name] Pea. And all of your friends/family will know why you picked Pea as the middle name so you really wouldn’t have much explaining to do and she would have a cute story to tell when people ask her about her middle name!

Oh my gosh, you guys are quick! Thanks so much for the prompt replies

Gigi22: I do like the idea of using just a “P” name! [name]Penelope[/name] is actually the name of my precious pit bull ([name]Penelope[/name] Pitbull, like [name]Penelope[/name] Pitstop – I thought I was being clever! ) but there are a couple of “P” names I love: [name]Pearl[/name], [name]Prairie[/name], and [name]Polly[/name] are my favorites. Thank you for the congratulations

Hoodie: Thank you! I do think that Sweet Pea could easily be a nickname for any name, its just something so dear to us that we would love to actually incorporate into her name somehow, if its possible  [name]Pia[/name] is pretty darn cute! As for “S” and “P” names, I love [name]Susannah[/name] as well as the “P” appellations I mentioned above: [name]Pearl[/name], Prarie, and [name]Polly[/name]

Truffles: Thank you for your list of suggestions! [name]Pearl[/name] has long been a favorite name of mine and, I’m only just realizing, it begins with “Pea!” Hmm…

Congrats on your adoption. I quite like [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] or [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] (aka Sweet Pea). Good luck to you!

Nikkin: Oh my gosh, I love the idea of Pea as a middle name  I have always liked [name]Plum[/name] for a middle, so it doesn’t seem too far off at all! [name]Susannah[/name] Pea, maybe? [name]Selena[/name] is beautiful too! I also love [name]Selene[/name], but I’m afraid [name]Selene[/name] Pea doesn’t have the same ring. [name]Selene[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], maybe! I’m rambling; thank you so much for a wonderful idea!

[name]Mischa[/name]: Thank you! I love both [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] and [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] Thank you so much!

[name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]?
[name]Seraphina[/name] [name]Pia[/name]?
[name]Seraphina[/name] Pea?

I was going to suggest [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] too–sounds like a winner!

I love [name]Susannah[/name] [name]Pearl[/name], you could call her Sweet [name]Susie[/name] P if you used it! Congratulations and good luck choosing
