I’m on the hunt for a surname for a [name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name] family I’m creating for the fun of it. [name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name]'s are so detested in actually writing and stories, but they’re oh so fun to create. Have no fear, I’m not writing any stories with them in it.
Basically it’s a family of two parents, and five daughters. (All blondes of course ;))
So far I have the following in mind:
Celouz
van der Hausen
The surname can be fictional, but I’d like a realistic feel so it’s not so outrageous.
My first thought was The Virgin Suicides. I’m not exactly sure what you mean by [name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name]? I’ve heard the term, but it was a long time ago.
Celianne, [name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name] is an ideal character, nice, sweet and thoughtful all the way round. The term is sometimes used in a sarcastic way but I believe OP just need a name for a good character.
Maybe something celebrity-inspired or a bit stereotypical? Some a bit weird ideas:
Die [name]Paris[/name]
Southerland
Sweetheart
[name]Von[/name] [name]Reese[/name]
Leblanc
Lovejoy
[name]Bellamy[/name]
Sweet
Bellanger
And way more realistic:
Balentine
[name]Ripley[/name]
[name]Van[/name] Zandt
[name]Jarett[/name](OK, I just love these)
[name]Linden[/name]
[name]Paxton[/name]
Rosati
[name]Lachlan[/name]
[name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name] is a character who’s very beautiful, superbly talented, sweet, caring, really smart and everyone adores her. Which makes her completely unrealistic.
In the first book I wrote, there’s a character called Derora [name]Augustine[/name] [name]Denali[/name] (known as [name]Derry[/name]) who pretends to be a [name]Mary[/name] [name]Sue[/name] because she wants to be the best at something and everything else she’s tried, someone has beaten her to it. She figures no one would ever want to be a stereotype so that’s what she’ll be best at.
There’s also many [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Sue[/name] surnames such as [name]Rose[/name], Darling, [name]Hart[/name], [name]Grace[/name], [name]Love[/name], [name]Kelly[/name], etc.; names that sound distinctly feminine. Most realistic [name]Mary[/name]-[name]Sue[/name]'s have those sort of names.
