Hi everyone, we are really struggling to find a name for our little girl due in 7 weeks. We have a little boy named Jack and a long last name ending -ski.
Names we like so far are Audrey, Danica, Rose (not sure about the Titanic thing with Jack and Rose…) and Marigold (which my family really doesn’t like…).
I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] from your list. I think that the ‘Jack and Rose’ association is too strong. If you (and your spouse) like [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], then go for it! Don’t worry about your family’s opinions; it’s your child and not theirs. They’ll get around it anyway.
[name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is sweet. The names are so well used I don’t think the Titanic thing matters. Its not like [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_u]Clyde[/name_u]. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is sweet but I can understand wanting to have a name that your family has a positive response to. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my favorite of your faves especially with nickname [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] Here are more ideas:
I love Aurora and it was on our list. I think Rory is such a cute nickname too but my husband is not a big fan and my name is Laura so it might be a bit close to that anyway…
Thanks everyone for the feedback, support and suggestions!
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] are so cute! I really like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] but struggle with a cute nickname for her if we chose it.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] → [name_f]Rosie[/name_f]
[name_f]Danica[/name_f] → [name_u]Danny[/name_u]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] → [name_f]Mary[/name_f] or [name_f]Goldie[/name_f] even
But [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is a tough one for nicknames…I guess she doesn’t really need one though or we will just end up having nicknames for her that have nothing to do with her name! I call my son [name_u]Jack[/name_u] honeybun or [name_u]Moe[/name_u] (from Jackamo) sometimes which don’t really have much to do with [name_u]Jack[/name_u] lol!
I really like the combination of [name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_f]Danica[/name_f] the best. [name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is really cute & pleasant too but if you’re concerned with it being disliked by family maybe use [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] as a middle since you love it.
[name_f]Danica[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Danica[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or [name_f]Danica[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] all sound really nice.
Names that give me “Danica” energy:
[name_f]Cynthia[/name_f]
[name_f]Annika[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneke[/name_f] - the [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] [name_f]Anika[/name_f] / [name_f]Annika[/name_f] , I had a good friend in high school with this spelling and she said it like (AHN-eh-kuh) in contrast to (ANN-ih-kah)
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Annalise[/name_f]
[name_f]Anina[/name_f] - a little [name_u]Jack[/name_u] and [name_f]Nina[/name_f] would be adorable

[name_f]Gayle[/name_f]
[name_u]Lennox[/name_u]
I just love the name [name_u]Jack[/name_u], so well done with your first baby!
You have great taste. I love all of those names. I understand the struggle with the [name_u]Jack[/name_u] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] thing. It’s a shame, because I think it would be my favorite on your list. Maybe it’s less recognizable of an association now, 25 years later?
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite from your list is [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].
[name_u]Jack[/name_u] is such a wonderful name! I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] with [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. Those are two absolute classics with such charm and such unique, spunky feelings! Here are a few to sort of match that warm, delighting feeling…
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_u]Nicola[/name_u]
[name_f]May[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Pearl[/name_f]
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Meg[/name_f]
[name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Franny[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_u]Greer[/name_u]
[name_f]Goldie[/name_f]
[name_u]Dana[/name_u]
[name_u]Marie[/name_u]
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Niamh[/name_f]
Also, having seen your comment about a nickname for [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], I have a few ideas! Of course, it’d be a delight to have her nickname come naturally. But, as I’m someone with a close friend named [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], here are some things I know she could be called : A, [name_u]Audie[/name_u], A-Rey, [name_f]Audra[/name_f], [name_f]Ree[/name_f], “AR” (first and middle initial, using [name_f]Rose[/name_f] from your list as a stand-in middle).
You have a really wonderful list including my personal favourites [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].
However looking at you and your naming dilemma I think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is definitely your winner. [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is absolutely stunning! [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is so pretty, elegant, timeless and has this old school Hollywood glamour vibe that works wonderfully with [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. Honestly [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] & [name_u]Jack[/name_u] would be perfection.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful but the whole [name_u]Jack[/name_u] & [name_f]Rose[/name_f] thing is a bit too much. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is also lush but I think you’ll struggle to get over that your family do not like this name. So I would scratch these two from your list.
This also leaves [name_f]Danica[/name_f]! She’s a lovely Slavic choice she’s classy, crisp and sophisticated. I love the meaning ‘morning star’ very pretty. I think stylistically [name_u]Jack[/name_u] & [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] work more cohesively but I do think [name_f]Danica[/name_f] is a fab back up option if she doesn’t look like an [name_f]Audrey[/name_f].
I do think you’ve nailed it with [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] (and back up option Danica) however here are some other ideas…
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Aria[/name_u]
[name_f]Daniela[/name_f]
[name_f]Danielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Danelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Marianne[/name_f] (MAR-ee-ann not [name_f]Maryann[/name_f] if that makes sense)
[name_f]Marianna[/name_f]
[name_f]Monika[/name_f] (if you like Danica…as long as your last name isn’t Lewinski haha)
[name_f]Marcella[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosella[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]
From your actual list I like [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] the best but feel like [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] is a bit more modern but still classy. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is nice but I prefer [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] but overall I like names with a few more syllables and nickname potential.
I know it was a while ago that I posted but I always wondered what people ended up deciding to go with when I read other posts so I figured I should share.
We named our little girl [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and it suits her perfectly. She is 5 weeks old
