[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] - of all your favorites, this is mine! [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] is on my own short list. In a way it seems like a vintage, fully-feminine form of my own name… and I very rarely get a nn. I don’t think [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] needs one, and Auddie takes just as long to say as [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] does? I have heard of [name_f]Audra[/name_f] as a nn if you really want one, though, or I think you could even reach for [name_f]Addy[/name_f] or [name_f]Ria[/name_f].
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f] - I want to like this, I love the meaning of “light”, but I just can’t get into [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Lucia[/name_f] and [name_u]Lux[/name_u] way more personally. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] [name_u]Steele[/name_u] would be enough to put me off of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], lol, but I do think [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] is sweet.
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - Which [name_f]Julia[/name_f] in the Bible are you thinking of? I think of Junia(s), Paul’s cousin… but I can’t think of a [name_f]Julia[/name_f] that’s actually in the Bible? … oh, apparently there is a minor one mentioned in Romans. I do think [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is a beautiful name, but my first thought isn’t the Bible. She may be my second favorite of your options. [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] seems to be all the craze lately, and I am growing to love her, but I love the classic simplicity of [name_f]Julia[/name_f].
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] - ahh I am super biased on this one. [name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother was a [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], so I am super biased in her favor. I don’t know that I’d want to use [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] as a first name, but I love her as a middle! I’ve had a thing for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] for years now. Probably tied for my second favorite with [name_f]Julia[/name_f].
[name_f]Sarah[/name_f] - beautiful meaning and a timeless name - for a few years I was a big [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] fan, but I’ve sort of backed off of it. There’s other Bible names I like more. Unfortunately my strongest memories with the Bible stories tied to [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] are all negative - giving [name_f]Hagar[/name_f] to [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] in her stead to give him an heir, making [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] send [name_f]Hagar[/name_f] & [name_m]Ishmael[/name_m] away then, and then laughing/scoffing in her tent when the [name_m]Lord[/name_m] came to tell [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] in a year they would have their own son. These are all easily explained by the human condition and I can’t fault her for them… but it does make it hard to see her redeeming qualities when the Bible isn’t as obvious about them as say [name_u]Daniel[/name_u], or even a character portrayed with both good and bad, like her husband [name_m]Abraham[/name_m].
Still, it is a sweet name and I feel like [name_f]Sarah[/name_f] is refreshing these days than our generation where there were so many of them.
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f] - [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] is sweet! I don’t think you’d have to worry about Gail; I think [name_u]Abby[/name_u] is sort of the default nn (which I happen not to be the fondest of, but if you like it, even better?). I also think [name_f]Bea[/name_f], [name_f]Ally[/name_f], [name_f]Ailey[/name_f] (AY-lee), and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] could be sweet nns for [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], too. [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] was my first favorite girls’ name, I’ll always have a soft spot for her, but I don’t know that I would name my daughter [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] anymore. There are a few combos I have in reserve (Abigail [name_f]Leona[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] [name_f]Mercy[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f] Clementine) if I ever change my mind and fall head over heels in love with her again, though!
I would vote [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], with Julia/Ruth as seconds! I think I like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] in general more than [name_f]Julia[/name_f] these days, but don’t think I’d use [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] as a first name.
