Really struggling with names to fit with surname Angel - Help!!

Hello! I’m borrowing a friend’s account here but am new and expecting my first! I’m having a problem with our surname: everything sounds overly cutsey and like it isn’t a real person’s name (especially boys names…). So, any ideas of names (for both genders) which would go with surname [name]Angel[/name]? Thankyou so much, [name]Lily[/name]

With your last name, I’d choose a very masculine first name for a boy and a more unisex name for a girl. Without knowing your style, here are some ideas…

Boys -

[name]James[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Hudson[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]Angel[/name] (just use [name]Theo[/name] not [name]Teddy[/name] for a nn)
[name]Robert[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Miles[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Grant[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Jackson[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Oscar[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]George[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Trevor[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

Girls -

[name]Hollis[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Peyton[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Tatum[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Willow[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Rowan[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

I think you might do better with names that are more hard nosed or classics. Some suggestions:

Thankyou! As far as style, I have no idea! The only boy name we both seem to love is [name]Christian[/name] but obviously that isn’t usable! I tend to like the shorter nickname like names: [name]Lacey[/name] being a favourite at the moment but [name]Lacey[/name] [name]Angel[/name]?? [name]Just[/name] sounds comical to me.

Of suggestions I really like these with our surname: [name]George[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Charles[/name], [name]Nicholas[/name], [name]Thomas[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] which is strange because I dismissed them originally as being a bit boring… Maybe you’re changing my mind, they do sound good with our surname.

Any other ideas? Thankyou so much, [name]Lily[/name]

Some more suggestions:
[name]Carys[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Tamsin[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Jillian[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Angel[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

[name]Benjamin[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Donovan[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Elliott[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Isaac[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Luke[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Eric[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Elias[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Finnian[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Julius[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Jared[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Mark[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Spencer[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Thaddeus[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Theo[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Zachary[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

[name]Glad[/name] it’s helpful! [name]Christian[/name] [name]Angel[/name] is a bit much but you could use it in a middle spot. I was about to suggest [name]Christopher[/name] as an alternative, but then I remembered [name]Criss[/name] [name]Angel[/name], the magician - not the worst association, but an association anyway. Although I really like the nn [name]Topher[/name] for [name]Christopher[/name].

I think another challenge is that it’s two syllables, and so 1 and 3 syllable names probably usually sound best, and there are a lot of 2 syllable names (although most of them would work).

A lot of the classic men’s names have more fun nn’s [name]John[/name] Ange1 would make a cute little [name]Jack[/name], [name]Charles[/name] a [name]Charlie[/name], etc. [name]Hope[/name] that helps you have more fun with them.

I love [name]Eleanor[/name] with your last name and that has lots of nice nns too - [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Nell[/name], [name]Nora[/name], etc. [name]Claire[/name] is really nice too. I’m sure you’ll be able to fine one you love!

All best!

Thanks. Am really loving [name]John[/name] at the moment - I think that maybe our boy name! Still struggling with girls names though.

I think any of these girls names are pretty, easy to use and will all suit the last name [name]Angel[/name]!

[name]John[/name] is great - I think it’s a timeless name that works on babies, boys, and men! And nn [name]Jack[/name] is sweet if you like it!

Following your posts for girls, you like [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Edlyn[/name], [name]Eden[/name], [name]Adelyn[/name], so I’m kind of noticing a trend for names that start with a vowel and don’t end with -a? [name]Even[/name] on your initial list, the latter one was a trend (but not the vowel beginning). It makes sense to not be wild about ones that end in -a - it will bump up with [name]Angel[/name] a tiny bit. I’ve never thought that’s really a reason to give up on a beloved name, but if there’s not one, it’s fair enough to avoid it. Let’s see. Your taste is also moving a little more classic it seems, but I’ll keep some more modern ones in, too. Of the list I’m about to put, I prefer the names that aren’t 2 syllables, but they’d be fine.

[name]Adelaide[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Adrienne[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Afton[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Aileen[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Allison[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Ashlyn[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Aveline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Eileen[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Elise[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Angel[/name] ([name]John[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] would be awesome siblings down the road - and [name]Elizabeth[/name] has such great nns!)
[name]Ellen[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Ellington[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Ellison[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Eloise[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Emily[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Emmaline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Esther[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Yvette[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Yvonne[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

And if you are moving closer to classics/vintage but aren’t so stuck on vowel initials, there are lots more like
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Christine[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Rosemary[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Jacqueline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Josephine[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

Sure there are more! [name]Hope[/name] this helps you keep going!

Thankyou all so much! I do like [name]Marla[/name] but it clashes with [name]Angel[/name] to my ear. jesba: thanks for your continued help. [name]Ellen[/name] and [name]Christine[/name] are nice too. I think we’ll use [name]Eleanor[/name] as middle name.

I think a long multi-syllable name could work well too.
[name]Cornelia[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Theodora[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

[name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Bea[/name]”
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Madeline[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Maddy[/name]”, “Liney”
[name]Luciana[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Lucy[/name]”, “[name]Luce[/name]”, “[name]Anna[/name]”, “[name]Annie[/name]”
[name]Matilda[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Mattie[/name]”, “[name]Tilly[/name]”, “[name]Tilde[/name]”, “[name]Tilda[/name]”, “[name]Tildy[/name]”, “[name]Matta[/name]”
[name]Emeline[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Em[/name]”, “[name]Emmy[/name]”, “[name]Emma[/name]”, “Liney”
[name]Clara[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Clare[/name]”
[name]Katerina[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Kat[/name]”, “[name]Rina[/name]”
[name]Aria[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Ari[/name]”, “[name]Ria[/name]”
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Helen[/name]”, “[name]Lena[/name]”, “[name]Lennie[/name]”

[name]Luka[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Luke[/name]”, “Lukie”
[name]Charles[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Charlie[/name]”
[name]Elias[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]James[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Jamie[/name]”
[name]Kevin[/name] [name]Angel[/name] “[name]Kev[/name]”

Thanks again, I do like [name]Kevin[/name] [name]Angel[/name]. I don’t really like the sound of names ending in A with our surname - sounds stilted to me - is that just me?

Some suggestions;

[name]John[/name] [name]Elliot[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] [name]Christian[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name] [name]George[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name] [name]Kevin[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]William[/name] [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Louise[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Natalie[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name] [name]Eve[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Angel[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] [name]Daphne[/name] [name]Angel[/name]

No, it’s not just you, there are other people in the world bothered by the vowel bumping. I think it’s really not that serious…especially when its fn to ln instead of fn to mn, because you can’t really control the ln, and furthermore you can break up the -a and the A with the mn. BUT if it bothers you, there are plenty of names that don’t end in -a : D.
