I had my son ten weeks ago and ever since we named him I have felt unsure if we made the right choice we decided on his name a week before he was born and I was fine with our choice then. For weeks and weeks before we couldn’t decide between two names and I was relieved when we finally decided. So when he arrived it felt strange calling him by the name we chose it just didn’t feel natural for some reason and I asked advice on other name forums and took to heart all negative responses for example both my sons names made us sound like we were a religious family! Anyway I would like dome advice do I keep his name or change it! ? We named him [name]Reuben[/name] and his brother is [name]Isaac[/name]. Our other choice was oliver???
That is exactly why I don’t settle on a name until after the baby is born and we meet him/her. Anyway that being said, I didn’t know [name]Reuben[/name] was a biblical name until now, so I never would have thought you were religious. If you are not happy with the name it is still early enough to change it! Try calling the baby [name]Oliver[/name] for a bit and see how that feels maybe! Either way, [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are both handsome names!
I think [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Reuben[/name] make a fine sibset! I much prefer it to [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name].
[name]True[/name], they both are names with Hebrew origins, but I wouldn’t assume a religious family on that basis. [name]Reuben[/name] is underused in this country, hence has a little quirkiness associated with it, which I love. You made a great choice.
My advice? Stop worrying, and go enjoy your two little boys!
I named both my daughters a few days after they were born and I still felt strange for weeks. I think it took me awhile to really feel as though their names “fit” them. I do think [name]Isaac[/name] is biblical. I will always view it in that light, though I don’t think [name]Reuben[/name] sounds biblical, even though it’s Hebrew. My view on biblical names is, essentially, if they were a character in “Children of the Corn”, they are biblical I don’t think by using a biblical name it makes you seem like an overly religious family, unless your children were named [name]Ezekiel[/name] and [name]Malachi[/name]. I think there are biblical names that are classics, like [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Noah[/name], and then there are the Children of the Corn names that I think are uber-biblical.
I think both are good choices. Give it some time for their little personalities to develop and really start to “feel” their name. It can take some time. I second guessed not naming my [name]Gretchen[/name] “[name]Greta[/name]” for almost a year.
I’m sorry. I think you should talk to the child’s father and see what he thinks. I can’t say what you should do but maybe if you have a feeling about the name it just isn’t the right fit. I do think [name]Oliver[/name] is a very nice name though. I would consider using it if I hadn’t had a cat named that. Lol
Children of the Corn! LMAO!
[name]Both[/name] names are Very good don’t worry about it
I think both names are great. And if I met a sibset named [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Reuben[/name] I wouldn’t make the assumption they were a extremely religious family. Actually I probably would be thinking what a great set of names
[name]Love[/name] [name]Reuben[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name]! [name]Reuben[/name] doesn’t sound biblical to me at all. Never even new it was in the bible. [name]Isaac[/name] is a fantastic strong classic name. Not overly religious at all. [name]Oliver[/name] is cute too. I like it a lot I just don’t like the nn [name]Ollie[/name]. Plus it’s not as strong as [name]Isaac[/name] impo. I like strong handsome names for boys and to me, [name]Isaac[/name] is just that. I have both on my list for future boy names actually. It’s not too late to change his name so if you totally feel that [name]Oliver[/name] is his name then go for it. I’ve always though my little guy looked like an [name]Oliver[/name] too
I wouldn’t have gotten religious from [name]Reuben[/name] either. And I know enough little kids named [name]Oliver[/name] that [name]Reuben[/name] feels fresher. If you genuinely think you made a mistake, look into changing it, but I suspect had you gone the other way, there would be just as many people making negative comments, even though both are great names.
What does the father think? Is he open to changing the name? If not, I would try to be happy with [name]Reuben[/name]. You obviously like the name. I don’t think babies “look” like any name. If your son is [name]Reuben[/name], he will eventually fit that name. However, if your husband agrees, then I think it would be fine. I love the pair [name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name]!
