[name_m]Hi[/name_m], we’re looking at getting a red cavoodle, and I feel like I need to start thinking about names already as it will be such a big decision
Not sure yet whether boy or girl. Looking for:
cute
suits a red cavoodle
easy to yell out at the dog park (e.g. ‘Pepper’ becomes a tongue twister)
not super common either as a person or dog name
doesn’t have to be a person name
Nice meaning would be a bonus
I kind of like some typical cute or doggy-ish or old-man-ish names like [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Russell[/name_m], [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Ruby[/name_f], [name_f]Margot[/name_f], Rafferty?, [name_f]Fern[/name_f], [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], [name_m]Milo[/name_m], Arlo… but they feel a bit over-used?
Thank you both so much for the suggestions!
[name_m]Loving[/name_m] [name_f]Ginny[/name_f], [name_m]Rory[/name_m], [name_f]Nutmeg[/name_f] and [name_m]Roscoe[/name_m] in particular. We’ve added [name_m]Ludo[/name_m] and [name_m]Morris[/name_m] to our list for a boy too. Partner likes [name_m]Plato[/name_m], I’m less convinced!
You have some lovely options already! [name_f]My[/name_f] own red cavoodle is called [name_m]Flynn[/name_m] full name [name_m]Flynn[/name_m] [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] which we chose partially due to its red-haired meaning!
[name_f]Piper[/name_f] (I think that is easy to say)
[name_m]Reed[/name_m]
[name_f]Coral[/name_f]
[name_f]Ember[/name_f]
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f]
[name_f]Autumn[/name_f]
[name_m]Clifford[/name_m]
[name_m]Ford[/name_m]
[name_m]Mars[/name_m]
[name_f]Sunny[/name_f]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_m]Valentine[/name_m]
First idea: [name_m]Rufus[/name_m]. It’s only quite sparsely in use in [name_f]England[/name_f] and [name_m]Wales[/name_m] (#371) so if you are at a dog part anywhere else, I don’t think you’ll run the risk of any children answering to this! But my sister says she knows of a couple of canine Refuses on TV and 1 in real life.
Other ideas:
[name_f]Ruthie[/name_f]
[name_f]Fifi[/name_f]
[name_f]Gala[/name_f]
[name_f]Roselil[/name_f]
[name_f]Pippa[/name_f], [name_m]Pip[/name_m], [name_m]Pippin[/name_m]
[name_f]Posie[/name_f]
Our new family member has now joined us, she’s a little girl.
[name_f][/name_f]
All your suggestions were so helpful and helped shape our decision, and [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] was among my daughter’s top picks while [name_f]Ember[/name_f] was among mine. In the end we combined our daughter’s desire for a cutesy normal-ish name (she wanted [name_f]Millie[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or Pippa) with our son’s love of dragons to look up some fiery names. Ultimately the name my kids and partner were able to agree on was [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], with it’s meaning of “bringer of light”.
[name_f][/name_f]
I think it suits her well enough, though if I didn’t have to compromise I think I’d be going for [name_f]Ember[/name_f], [name_m]Blaze[/name_m], or something else a little more exciting
