To begin, neither me or DW care for the [name]Rhys[/name] spelling.
I am heavily leaning towards [name]Reese[/name] spelling. 1. My mom’s name is [name]Teresa[/name], so it would resemble her name more closely. 2. Although some people don’t like the connection to the candy, I don’t mind it at all. So it would allow us to get him some apparel that featured their logo, like t-shirt, onesie, belt buckle, etc. [name]Just[/name] something cute he could exploit. 3. She has disliked so many of my suggestions I would feel like wife gave me absolutely no compromises if we don’t use the S spelling.
Wife prefers [name]Reece[/name] 1. Because it’s more commonly used than [name]Reese[/name] when it is for boys. 2. Her mom is [name]Cathleen[/name] and she could say the C is tribute to her while the pronunciation of the name resembles my mom’s name.
I’m still a tiny bit hesitant to use the name just because it’s unisex. I may still prefer a undisputedly masculine name.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reese[/name]/[name]Reece[/name]! Sorry, I agree with your wife that [name]Reece[/name] would be a nice blend between your moms’ names, and it is usually seen as a more masculine spelling than [name]Reese[/name] is. However, I agree with you that the whole [name]Reese[/name]'s candy thing would be cool to exploit, and I have generally liked [name]Reese[/name] as a spelling over [name]Reece[/name]. I’ve always been torn between the two spellings, and [name]Rhys[/name] is my personal choice, so I’m not sure I’m any help, sorry!
But from your posts it sounds like you’ve bent over backwards to find a name that she will like that you can accept, too, so if you use [name]Reese[/name] (or whatever spelling), it would be nice if your wife would give you [name]Reese[/name]! With [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Cole[/name], I think [name]Reese[/name] works best, anyway, now that I think of it.
I prefer [name]Reese[/name] I think it has friendly vibes. If you have sons [name]Wyatt[/name] and [name]Cole[/name] it works perfectly better than [name]Reece[/name] (which I think is a bit sissy).
I hate the [name]Rhys[/name] spelling too! It looks more like [name]Rice[/name] than [name]Reece[/name] in my opinion. I prefer [name]Reese[/name] for girls and [name]Reece[/name] for boys, so I would go with [name]Reece[/name] for a boy.
On another naming site there is a survey showing 51% of people named [name]Reece[/name] say it always gets misspelled while 21% of people named [name]Reese[/name] say it always gets misspelled. Hmmm…
I like both spellings, but when you mentioned the candy, I think [name]Reese[/name] would be cuter! I think the reference to the candy is adorable, and not overbearing.
I don’t know if it’s a regional thing, but the only [name]Reese[/name] with that spelling I know of is [name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon. I went to school with two boy Reeces, spelt that way, so my view on it is [name]Reese[/name] = girl, [name]Reece[/name] = boy. I personally prefer the [name]Rhys[/name] spelling, which I see as all boy too.
I definitely prefer [name]Reece[/name] on a boy and [name]Reese[/name] on a girl.
Although I’m not a fan of unisex names, [name]Reese[/name] is one of my all-time favourites, preferably on a boy,
Good luck!
I’ve only known one person (a boy) with this name and I never saw their name written so I’m not sure how it was spelled. With that said, I think I prefer the [name]Reese[/name] spelling for either gender because I’d think it would get misspelled the least often. But reading all the posts makes me think of it as more feminine… which I wouldn’t want.
