I’m curious what people think of [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] for a girl. Its a family name that my husband likes as a first name - possibly [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
Please chime in!

I met a woman named [name_u]Reeve[/name_u] once and thought it was a really nice name. [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] with an S sounds odd to me.
This is where I’m stuck. The ‘s’ at the end sounds wrong/off to me when I say it aloud as a name. With [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] and [name_m]Wells[/name_m] working for boys’ names, maybe I’m subconsciously linking surnames ending with s as boys names and thats why it isn’t working for me?
I think it could be sleek and chic on a girl though!
I feel like it’d be a tougher American for a little girl to wear but can see it on a grown woman without a problem, so I’m not sure that’s helpful! I guess if I had known a little girl with that name, that would just be her name, and it would then seem wearable for a little one, if that makes sense! She wouldn’t have to share her name with anyone else , which is a plus!
If it’s a family name, I like it. I don’t particularly like names like this that are picked out of the blue, as it’s not particularly feminine sounding, but family names always seem right to me. I went to college with a lot of girls from the south whose first name was their mother’s maiden name or an old family name, so in that setting a name like [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] seems charming. I particularly like it with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].
I don’t love it. It’s not terrible, just doesn’t feel particularly beautiful or intriguing to me. If I met a woman with that name, I would assume it was just an honor name for someone else’s last name.
What about [name_f]Reeva[/name_f] or [name_f]Reva[/name_f]? [name_m]Reeves[/name_m] would work well as a middle name, I think.
