Regarding Liv

My husband and I love the name [name]Liv[/name]; how it looks, sounds and its meaning. But [name]Olivia[/name] made it to the top 10 again last year. Not to mention all the [name]Alivia[/name]'s and [name]Olive[/name]'s out there as well. [name]How[/name] common a nickname is [name]Liv[/name] going to be shortly, do you think?

I think it will be pretty common, especially if [name]Olivia[/name]'s in the top 10. But, if you love the name [name]Liv[/name], then go for it!

Sorry, I’m a bit confused- I thought [name]Liv[/name] was pronounced “leev”? Not live as in “I live in [name]Canada[/name]”. My guess would be that even if nn’d [name]Liv[/name], Olivias would pronounce it like “live”. Yes, close, but not quite the same to me.

[name]Liv[/name] (leev) is really cute and sweet; I’d love to meet one! The “live” pronunciation doesn’t sound like a name so much as just a random word.

I assume you want to pronounce it LIVE as in [name]Liv[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]?

I also really like this nickname! Of all the [name]Olivia[/name]'s I have met none seem to have a nickname! I would think that [name]Livy[/name] would be more common for Olivias…

I really like [name]Liv[/name] as a name!!!

I know a lot of [name]Olivia[/name]'s and one [name]Olive[/name], and none of them go by [name]Liv[/name]. They all just use [name]Olivia[/name] in full, (and I sometimes call [name]Olive[/name] “[name]Ollie[/name]”.) I don’t think you would run into it that much. [name]Liv[/name] by itself is distinctive and very pretty. I very much prefer it to [name]Olivia[/name], and I say go for it!

I teach a little girl who is just called [name]Livia[/name], her nickname is [name]Liv[/name] or [name]Livvy[/name]. I always thought it was darling.

I’ve yet to meet an [name]Olivia[/name] who goes by [name]Liv[/name]. They all use [name]Olivia[/name] in full.

I know a girl named [name]Livia[/name] and we call her [name]Liv[/name]/[name]Livvy[/name]

[name]LOVE[/name] it. If you are okay with people sometimes asking if [name]Olivia[/name] is her full name, I think you should go for it!

Hmm…
[name]Liv[/name] is really intriguing, elegant and sweet. [name]Liv[/name] feels spirited and care-free. Why don’t you simply use [name]Liv[/name]? In the UK nicknames are incredibly fashionable hence the craze of [name]Alfie[/name]'s, [name]Ellie[/name]'s, and [name]Archie[/name]'s. Using [name]Liv[/name] you’d be following the trend but in a really cool unique way that wouldn’t make the choice dated in years to comes which potentially the thousands of [name]Ellie[/name]'s could be, but simplistic and elegant. [name]Liv[/name] feels lovely and vibrant. I really love [name]Liv[/name] and I think you could potentially ruin the simplistic vibe and beauty of [name]Liv[/name] by using her as a nickname for the popular [name]Olivia[/name] and the dodgy variant [name]Alivia[/name]. Go for it be brave and use [name]Liv[/name].

Thanks everyone! I know a few [name]Olivia[/name]'s and none go by [name]Liv[/name]. I know the correct prn is “Leev” but [name]Liv[/name] [name]Tyler[/name] means most people will assume the “Live” prn. We’re definitely still considering it! I was just disappointed at the thought that such a lovely and historied name could get lost in a sea of similar nicknames. However, it sounds like that might not be the case. [name]Glad[/name] I asked!

I sedond the others. [name]Liv[/name] is a great name–een pronounced like [name]Liv[/name] [name]Tyler[/name]. All the Olivias I know go by their full names. And I think it’s way cool and won’t get confused at all once everyone knows that just [name]Liv[/name] is her name.

[name]Liv[/name] is an awesome name…But then again I might be biased because that is the name I go by.

The only other Olivias I have met have gone by their full name, [name]Via[/name] or [name]Ollie[/name]. I’m sure there are some out there like me who are nicknamed [name]Liv[/name].

BTW, I pronounce it like LIVE :]
