[name]How[/name] would you reinvent [name]Martin[/name]? DH has recently started talking about using [name]Martin[/name] but he hates the nn [name]Marty[/name]. Any ideas?
[name]Do[/name] you mean just a nickname for [name]Martin[/name]? Because I don’t think just not liking [name]Marty[/name] is good enough reason not to use [name]Martin[/name]. If you don’t like [name]Marty[/name], then just don’t call him [name]Marty[/name]. I know lots of kids (boys especially) who only go by their formal names, and it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Or are you looking for an alternative name entirely? [name]How[/name] about [name]Marshall[/name] for an alternative?
Are you looking for a variation of [name]Martin[/name], a different but somewhat similar name or a different nickname?
[name]Art[/name] could be a cool NN for [name]Martin[/name].
Mattin is an interesting Basque variation of [name]Martin[/name].
[name]Marcellus[/name], [name]Marcel[/name] and [name]Marlon[/name] are all quite cool.
I think [name]Martin[/name] doesn’t necessarily need a nickname, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if an aunt or a friend called him [name]Marty[/name] without your OK. And [name]Martin[/name] might opt for [name]Marty[/name] when he’s older. So if [name]Marty[/name] really makes you cringe maybe you need to forget [name]Martin[/name]. If you could handle a teenager who is [name]Marty[/name] at school, I say go for it.
Merit might be an alternate choice.
Also, [name]Martin[/name] [name]James[/name] could go by MJ if you have family members who just need a nn!
I knew a [name]Martin[/name] growing up and his parents called him Tintin due to the fact that he was fair and his hair always stuck up like the character. Of course, he reverted back to [name]Martin[/name] when he matured!
What if [name]Martin[/name] went by the nn [name]Ari[/name]? =]
I met the cutest little boy named [name]Marsden[/name]. He didn’t use a nickname, but [name]Mars[/name] would be adorable.
I think [name]Mars[/name] would be an adorable nn, that was my first thought! I think a [name]Martin[/name] could just be [name]Martin[/name] these days, though–a lot of [name]Daniels[/name] are just [name]Daniel[/name], not [name]Dan[/name] or [name]Danny[/name], and the same for a lot of other names ([name]Patrick[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Benjamin[/name]), so I think a [name]Martin[/name] could reasonably go without [name]Marty[/name].
Wrong gender, I know, but I have to say, I adore [name]Martina[/name] and [name]Marta[/name] on a girl!
[name]Marli[/name]/[name]Marly[/name] is becoming quite popular where I live - what about [name]Marlin[/name]?
