Remy as a nickname

I have always loved the name [name_u]Remy[/name_u] (either for a girl or a boy, but currently 36 weeks pregnant with a boy), but DH thinks it is a cute baby name that doesn’t translate well into adulthood.

Any thoughts on a full name that we could reasonably shorten to [name_u]Remy[/name_u]? [name_m]Remus[/name_m] and [name_m]Remington[/name_m] do not fit our family well at all.

I think it would be nice for [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] or [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. Good luck!

[name_m]Efrem[/name_m]/[name_m]Ephraim[/name_m]?
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]/[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]?
[name_m]Laramie[/name_m]/[name_m]Laremy[/name_m]?
[name_m]Ramon[/name_m]/[name_m]Remon[/name_m]?
[name_m]Rembrandt[/name_m]?

[name_u]Remy[/name_u] is the name I use when I present as male. Everyone loves it. They call it fun and charismatic and my friend [name_f]Winsome[/name_f] calls it dashing.

As for fuller names, since you didn’t specify your style, here’s random suggestions:

Ekrem – most noble
[name_m]Fremont[/name_m] – noble protector
Gremian – one who enrages others
[name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m] – exalted by Yahweh
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] --exalted by Yahweh
Jeremiel – God lifts me up
Kerem – vineyard
Preman – divine love
Remco – oar
Remedio – remedy
Teremun – father’s acceptance
Tremain – from the house by the rock
[name_m]Tremont[/name_m] – from the three mountains
Zerem – stream

Or even names with RIM:

Grimaldo – mighty protector
Grimbold – one who is fierce and bold
Larrimore – armorer
Leotrim – courageous, brave
Rimon – pomegranate

I appreciate the input! [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] isn’t a name I find myself loving, but it might be a sweet-spot compromise if it becomes necessary.

Our current kiddos are [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_m]Zo[/name_m]ë, so I don’t want to go too out there crazy and give #3 a total mismatch.

I think [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is so sweet. My friend’s sister just named her son [name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] and just used it as a full name. Otherwise I like it as a nickname for [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]/[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m].

Oh with [name_u]Owen[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f], [name_u]Remy[/name_u] seems spot on.

[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_u]Remy[/name_u]! The only longer names I like are [name_m]Remus[/name_m] and [name_m]Jeremiah[/name_m]

Hubby thinks [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is too childish yet he was OK with [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]? Yes, sometimes names ending in “eee” do seem kiddie but [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f] are solid names with a long history, not cutesy baby names. I can only picture a grown man when I think of [name_u]Remy[/name_u] (I grew up watching X-Men cartoons).
