Remy/Remi pronounciation

First off, do you see this as a girls name or is it more masculine? Which spelling do you prefer and does spelling dictate pronounciation?

Thanks

It’s unisex. I prefer it on a girl, though, and prefer it spelt [name_u]Remy[/name_u]. Both pronounced the same way ([name_m]REM[/name_m]-e).

^ I completely agree with everything above.

I see it as more masculine, I think mostly due to the nickname option from [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]. I prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u], pronounced the same as above.

To me [name_u]Remi[/name_u]/y is masculine, as I associate it as a nickname for the name [name_u]Remington[/name_u]. I like both spellings equally and pronounce it REH-mee. I’m not sure of any other way to pronounce it/this is the only way I’ve ever heard.

I’d say it’s unisex, but I prefer it for a girl. I’ve only known girls named [name_u]Remy[/name_u]/[name_u]Remi[/name_u]. I’d pronounce both the same way, REH-me.

I absolutely adore this name! This is one of the few names I love on both boys and girls. I don’t think of it as a nickname, but mostly because I don’t like any of the full names for it. Also, I don’t know how else it could possibly be pronounced other then [name_m]REM[/name_m]-ee. I really like both spellings, but ever so slightly prefer [name_u]Remy[/name_u].

I think both are pronounced the same (rem-ee). I prefer [name_u]Remi[/name_u] for boy or girl.

[name_u]Remi[/name_u] - only a girl - I prefer this spelling
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] - unisex

I pronounce them the same way, REH-me

[name_u]Remy[/name_u] is a male name, like the rat in Ratatouille.
[name_u]Remi[/name_u] is feminine.

I say them the same, [name_m]Rem[/name_m]-ee, to rhyme with [name_f]Emmy[/name_f].

Thanks everyone. I heard a french person pronounce it and it was more ray-me but i do prefer the rem-mee pronounciation

I agree with greta-elizabeth
[name_u]Remy[/name_u] boy, [name_u]Remi[/name_u] girl

It feels fairly unisex to me, although I guess at first glance [name_u]Remy[/name_u] feels more masculine while [name_u]Remi[/name_u] feels feminine. Both would be pronounce [name_m]REM[/name_m]-ee.

[name_u]Remi[/name_u] or [name_u]Remy[/name_u] would be unisex to me. Rémi or Rémy, on the other hand, would be [name_m]French[/name_m] masculine names.

^^ Yes, I completely agree with PP.
