[name_f]My[/name_f] mother told me and my sisters that she wished she could go back and name us all after [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] characters!
I know I’m not the only [name_u]Austen[/name_u] fan around here, so I thought I’d pose this question:
[name_m]Say[/name_m] you were to do that for yourself – that is, rename yourself after a [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] character(s) – what would your name be?
[name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to explain your choice, too, if you want! I would be very interested.

I’d love to name myself [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Hattie[/name_f].
[name_f]Emma[/name_f] has long been my favorite [name_u]Austen[/name_u] work, and I really love the character [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]! I thought she was the funniest, most endearing thug when I was small… and she’s got a gorgeous name, of course. One I’ve always loved! It’s imbued with her spirit!

I know it’s bad but I’ve only ever read Pride and Prejudice
i should fix that.
I do really enjoy the names [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] and [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] though

I think I would go for Kitty!!
When i was at school, we read pride and prejudice together in English lessons. My friends and I would assign ourselves characters and I was Kitty, mainly because I liked the name
she’s still young and likes to have fun but not as wild as Lydia (though i do like this name too!) and in my head I picture her as having the best life of the Bennet sisters
Second choice would be Georgiana (Darcy) as I believe she was very musical and beautiful, i just preferred Kitty ever so slightly

I’ve only read P&P so far but want to tackle [name_f]Emma[/name_f] this year as well. Right now, I’d choose [name_f]Jane[/name_f], because [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Bennett[/name_u] was just the sweetest and I really liked her!

oh fun! Maybe [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] from Pride & Prejudice. I also remember [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is from something (pretty sure it’s jane austen…?)… I don’t remember… so one of those three! I would love to be called [name_f]Jane[/name_f] or [name_f]Janie[/name_f]!

Oh, this is so difficult. I know that my personality matches Catherine Morland to a tee, but I don’t want to be named Catherine. I also related a lot to Marianne, and I do really like that name! I love the name Emma, but that doesn’t feel quite right for myself. All that to say…
Marianne

I’d love to be a [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] or a [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], though I think [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] would suit me a little more! The character association definitely isn’t my favourite, but I think I’d be able to look past it as it’s such a pretty name.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book - I would have to go with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as the full combo. I think I fall somewhere between those two characters. I also think [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] suits me more than some other [name_u]Austen[/name_u] names - [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] even though I like those more in a general sense.

As far as names go, [name_f]Marianne[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] would be my favorites. However, I am definitely not a main character, so maybe [name_f]Mary[/name_f] after [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Bennett[/name_u]! (Not my favorite character, but maybe I’m something like her.)

I’ve only read two [name_u]Austen[/name_u] novels (Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility) and seen the [name_f]Emma[/name_f] movie (2020), but based on those… Probably [name_f]Augusta[/name_f] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f].

It’s been awhile since I’ve read any [name_u]Austen[/name_u] (the language is daunting, honestly) so I can’t go with a favorite character or anything. I remember [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] being used and I adore that name. It’s beautiful and timeless! I’d love to be named it.

[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] has always been a long time favorite author of mine. [name_f]My[/name_f] two favorite novels of hers are Sense and Sensibility and [name_f]Emma[/name_f]. That being said, I think I would absolutely choose [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]. I’ve always love the name, and this spelling is so timeless and unique. Also, I’d love to have a surname like Dashwood!
If I had to pick a full name for myself, I think I’d go with [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Harriet[/name_f] [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and I’d go by “Nell”

Am I the only one thinking Dashwood could be the next Dashiell…
