I’ve been wondering if anybody knows any young [name_u]James[/name_u]'s who go by [name_m]Jim[/name_m]/[name_m]Jimmy[/name_m]. I love [name_u]James[/name_u] by itself but because no teens go by [name_m]Jim[/name_m] anymore I feel like it’s sort of anti-cool. So uncool it’s cool ala [name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_m]Walt[/name_m], etc.
Does anybody know any young [name_m]Jim[/name_m]'s? Would it be weird to meet one?
I don’t know any young Jims but i have met a few young Timmys, a [name_m]Jeff[/name_m] and a [name_m]Frank[/name_m] so I wouldn’t be surprised by a [name_m]Jim[/name_m]
I know a [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] who is in middle school and two who are in college. I also know several young people named [name_u]James[/name_u] who just go by [name_u]James[/name_u]. [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m]/[name_m]Jim[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u] don’t seem strange on a child/teen to me, although if I met a baby who was just called [name_m]Jim[/name_m] I would be a little surprised.
My dad is named [name_u]James[/name_u] and goes by [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], but many people try to call him [name_m]Jim[/name_m] even though he has only ever introduced himself as [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]Jamie[/name_u]. I’ve never understood that. But I don’t think that really happens with kids!
My uncle was a J!m, but he was born way back in 1960. I do know some teenage [name_u]James[/name_u], but I have never seen any of them go by [name_m]Jim[/name_m]. I vaguely recall one who went by [name_u]Jay[/name_u].
I don’t think [name_m]Jim[/name_m] is anti-cool, just on the more old fashioned side. Who knows, it might be like [name_f]Ada[/name_f], a name that was old and stuffy, but ends up making a comeback.
My brother (25) is a [name_u]James[/name_u] who is [name_u]Jamie[/name_u] so often that no-one can quite remember which is his official name. But he also gets [name_m]Jim[/name_m] a fair bit, especially from my parents and my children, who call him Uncle [name_m]Jim[/name_m]/UJ.
The only young [name_m]Jim[/name_m] I know of is the youtuber [name_m]Jim[/name_m] Chapman and I think he’s 30-ish. I love it actually but then I’m a fan of [name_m]Sid[/name_m] (-ney, but with a view to call him [name_m]Sid[/name_m]), [name_u]Gus[/name_u] (just [name_u]Gus[/name_u], nothing else) and [name_m]Roger[/name_m] (just [name_m]Roger[/name_m], but he’s the same dated and uncool style we’re talking about).
I wouldn’t find it weird to meet one. For me it would definitely qualify as cool rather than not and I’d love to see it used more.
Unfortunately I haven’t met any young [name_m]Jim[/name_m]/Jimmys but I would love too! I have met a little [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_m]Timmy[/name_m], and [name_u]Bobby[/name_u]! I like [name_m]Jim[/name_m]/[name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] a lot, more than [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] or [name_m]Walter[/name_m]. It reminds me of the character from The Office (the US one) which isn’t a bad association at all, it’s actually quite a good one.
I don’t think I know any Jimmys/Jims. I do know one [name_u]James[/name_u], but he doesn’t go by any other name. Personally I think that [name_m]Jim[/name_m] is a little bland and not quite ready for a revival. I slightly prefer [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m].
Yes! I know a little girl (3) named Jimmi and a boy (10?) named [name_m]Jimi[/name_m]. And a young man (20 or something) named [name_m]Jim[/name_m]. But I don’t any of their full names are [name_u]James[/name_u].
I know of a [name_u]James[/name_u], but he just goes by that! [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t heard [name_m]Jim[/name_m] recently, but I think It would still be cute
I know one young [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] but I don’t know any young Jameses who go by [name_m]Jim[/name_m]. I’ve met plenty of older ones though. That nickname seems to have gone out of fashion at some point for whatever reason.
The only people I have known named [name_m]Jim[/name_m] were my paternal grandfather, and my eldest male paternal cousin. cousin was [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] as a child. I prefer the name [name_u]James[/name_u]. It is certainly the family name and both my brothers and every male cousin (paternal side) has a son whose middle name is [name_u]James[/name_u]. The next general [name_u]James[/name_u] is reverting to fn.
I must add that as a whole, I really prefer full formal names. I think they are so much nicer.
