Respondents: 169 (This poll is closed)

  • Apolline: 17 (10%)
  • Bluebell: 8 (5%)
  • Elena: 23 (14%)
  • Eulalie: 24 (14%)
  • Isobel (Ibby / Sosie): 34 (20%)
  • Lilian: 20 (12%)
  • Penelope (Poppy): 43 (25%)

I love the spelling of [name]Isobel[/name], it seems so much prettier to me than the [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isabel[/name] spellings. Also, I like [name]Elena[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] from your list. [name]Lily[/name] is popular here in the US as well and you already have a nn [name]Lilah[/name] on your list so I’d leave that out. Fun list!

I voted for [name]Penelope[/name] because it’s underused without being strange, it’s fun to say, and I love that it has so many great nickname options (my favourites are [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Lola[/name] and [name]Nell[/name]).
Next I voted for [name]Apolline[/name]. It’s really grown on me lately. I love the -line ending, and that it makes me think of ‘[name]Apple[/name]’ and also ‘[name]Apollo[/name]’.
I voted for [name]Eulalie[/name] because I wouldn’t be brave enough to use [name]Bluebell[/name]. [name]Both[/name] names are lovely, and I prefer [name]Blue[/name] to Laylee, but I’d probably only use [name]Bluebell[/name] in the middle name spot. [name]Eulalie[/name] is more accessible.

[name]Elena[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Violet[/name], and [name]Catherine[/name] are all on my list! I love the spelling of [name]Isobel[/name], and [name]Elena[/name] just feels so elegant!

I voted for [name]Elena[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], and [name]Apolline[/name]. [name]Elena[/name] is so classically beautiful to me and I [name]LOVE[/name] the [name]Isobel[/name] nicknames you have- [name]Ibby[/name] and [name]Sosie[/name] are insanely adorable! [name]Apolline[/name] was a pretty distant third. I do like the sound and feel of it, but I can’t help but think of apple. There’s nothing wrong with apples, but it’s just an almost overwhelming association in my mind. In the end, though, I thought I preferred [name]Apolline[/name] over the other names on your list.

Thanks girls! Any more comments welcome

I chose [name]Elena[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], and [name]Penelope[/name] because I loved the nns [name]Lena[/name], [name]Sosie[/name], and [name]Poppy[/name].

I chose [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name] and Bluebel. [name]Isobel[/name] is the only spelling I like, and I really do love it. However, it IS becoming more and more popular. I think the nickname [name]Sosie[/name] won me over in the end though (I also love Zabby/Sabby for the [name]Isabel[/name] spelling).

[name]Eulalie[/name] is lovely, and unbelievably fun. I also adore the French pn: Ooh-Lah-lee. Laylee is gorgeous. I also really like [name]Eula[/name] and [name]Lola[/name].

[name]Bluebell[/name] is just absolutely adorable. I don’t think it’s particularly unusable at all. [name]Violet[/name], [name]Primrose[/name], [name]Juniper[/name] - why not [name]Bluebell[/name]? I don’t really care for [name]Blue[/name] as a nickname. [name]Belle[/name] is pretty, as is [name]Bella[/name]. [name]Even[/name] if you weren’t brave enough to use it in the first spot, it would make a fabulous middle name!

Anyway, I absolutely love your others. What a great top 10

[name]Penelope[/name] ([name]Poppy[/name]) - I absolutely adore [name]Penelope[/name]. I’ve always thought I’d use [name]Penny[/name] as a nn, but [name]Poppy[/name] is adorable. This is my favorite of your list to add to the top 7.
[name]Bluebell[/name] ([name]Blue[/name], [name]Belle[/name]) - I think this name is cute enough, but I don’t think it will age well at all.
[name]Apolline[/name] - It’s pretty, but nms.
[name]Isobel[/name] ([name]Ibby[/name]
, [name]Sosie[/name]*) - [name]Love[/name] it! I really like [name]Sosie[/name] as a nn.
[name]Lilian[/name] ([name]Lily[/name]) - I love [name]Lilian[/name], but, like you, am put off by the popularity. It’s really popular in a lot of countries, I believe.
[name]Elena[/name] ([name]Lena[/name]) - I love this name. I considered it for my second child, until we found out it was a boy :D.
[name]Eulalie[/name] (Laylee) - Cute, but not a favorite.

I love your top 7! I think that [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Elena[/name], and [name]Lilian[/name] fit best in this list. The majority of your names have a very classic feel to them, don’t they? [name]Love[/name] it!

I voted for [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name] and [name]Bluebell[/name] (:
You have an AMAZING top 7, genevie
I chose [name]Penelope[/name] because it reminds me of Greek Mythology, and [name]Ulysses[/name] kind wife (:
I chose [name]Eulalie[/name] 'cause it sounds very happy (?)
I chose [name]Bluebell[/name], because I think of rich blues and purples, which are my favourite colours

I voted for [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Isobel[/name] and [name]Elena[/name]. I like [name]Penelope[/name] better than [name]Poppy[/name] because it seems special, maybe even a little magical. I like [name]Elena[/name] because it is very elegant and sophisticated, and I picture a young woman who is confident. I like [name]Isobel[/name] mainly because of this spelling. I really don’t like [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isabella[/name]. Spelled [name]Isobel[/name] it has that something extra. And I really like the nn [name]Sosie[/name].

I agree with other posters, too. I totally think “apple” mixed with “[name]Apollo[/name]” when I say [name]Apolline[/name]. I can’t say it is a bad thing.

Wow I love your top 7! Our girl lists are pretty similar (at some point I’ve probably liked almost every name you listed.) [name]Violet[/name],[name]Lila[/name],[name]Tallulah[/name],[name]Millie[/name], [name]Romy[/name]: they’re on my own list too!
I picked [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Eulalie[/name], and [name]Apolline[/name]. [name]Isobel[/name] because I am in love with [name]Sosie[/name] (it’s on my own list, only my [name]Sosie[/name] would be [name]Shoshana[/name]. I never thought of getting [name]Sosie[/name] from [name]Isobel[/name] before). So [name]Sosie[/name] was a bit biased.
[name]Eulalie[/name] is just so pleasing to the ears, it was on my own list at one point, and [name]Apolline[/name] is so cool! [name]Apolline[/name] nicknamed [name]Polly[/name] would be cute.

Thanks girls, I’m thinking [name]Isobel[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name] are definites now  Those are the ones I was most likely to go for anyway. Still not 100% sure on what I want as a third, votes are pretty close for a few of them. So more votes/opinions welcome!

I actually just voted for [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Apolline[/name] ([name]Polly[/name]? [name]Apple[/name]?!) - I almost went for [name]Isobel[/name], which I love (especially with the nicknames [name]Ibby[/name] and [name]Sosie[/name]), too, but thought it would be hypocritical, as I didn’t vote for [name]Lilian[/name]/[name]Lily[/name] for popularity reasons. Actually, I’m going to go back and vote for [name]Isobel[/name] - if [name]Ibby[/name]/[name]Sosie[/name] would be used a lot of the time, then I think that adds enough originality that she wouldn’t be disappointed by the popularity of her full name. You’ve probably looked at them, but I just thought I’d throw [name]Isolde[/name], [name]Isadora[/name] and Isola out there as alternatives.

[name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Apolline[/name] are both elegant, vintage, femine and with fantastic nickname options.

I like [name]Eulalie[/name] in theory, but to be honest I’m just not a fan of that Eu sound (reminds me of [name]Eunice[/name]), and I don’t find the rest of the name strong enough to redeem itself.

[name]Elena[/name] was out for me because of pronunciation issues - some might think it was like [name]Eleanor[/name] (UK pronunciation). Plus, [name]Ella[/name] and all her variants are super popular at the minute.

I like unusual word names, and ordinarily I would say that [name]Bluebell[/name] could totally work as a first name - the similarity to all of the popular -bel names grounds her, and the ‘blue’ makes it not-too-frilly. But as it is so tied to a celebrity child, I feel this choice sends out quite cutesy, precious signals now, and would perhaps be better confined to the middle spot. [name]How[/name] about [name]Mirabel[/name]?

[name]Auburn[/name]

I chose [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], and [name]Eulalie[/name]. I prefer the o spelling for [name]Isobel[/name], and the other two are Greek, and I like Greek names, although I prefer [name]Eulalia[/name] to [name]Eulalie[/name]. I have been to the Cathedral of [name]Santa[/name] [name]Eulalia[/name] in [name]Barcelona[/name] and it is beautiful. Oh, my daughter is [name]Caitlin[/name], and she has gone by [name]Kitty[/name] since she was 15.

Thanks so much you guys! Tentatively going for [name]Isobel[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Eulalie[/name] as my other 3, we’ll see how that works out

[name]Hi[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name],

I am a bit late to this thread but just had to vote because I love so many of your choices!

I voted [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Apolline[/name]. All beautiful names with cute nn’s. They’re all feminine without being too frilly - they’re bouncy and fun yet all have substantial history. I am especially fond of [name]Eulalie[/name] nn Lalie (Laylee) but I am biased as I have one of my own

[name]Penelope[/name] was my runner up name for [name]Eulalie[/name], and [name]Apolline[/name] is one that is on and off my list depending on my mood - she’s so much fun - I may end up using her in the middle one day.

[name]Isobel[/name] nn sosie is gorgeous but the spelling and the nn aren’t enough to differentiate from all the [name]Isabelle[/name]'s and [name]Isabella[/name]'s out there, in my opinion. Still, a lovely name despite popularity.

[name]Bluebell[/name] is fun in the middle - but I’m not sure I’d like to be called [name]Bluebell[/name] myself, or [name]Blue[/name] for that matter.

I find [name]Elena[/name] nice enough but a little bland with your other choices.

Beautiful list of names!
x abelle

I chose [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], and [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Eulalie[/name] (undecided as to whether I personally like [name]Eulalie[/name] or [name]Eulalia[/name] better) and [name]Penelope[/name] just roll off the tongue and sound very pleasing to my ear. I like [name]Isobel[/name] a lot too and [name]LOVE[/name] the different-yet-still-legit spelling. Makes me think of the Bjork song, which I love. I pretty much like your whole list actually. Not sure about [name]Kitty[/name] (as a full name…As a nickname I think it’s great!) and [name]Bluebell[/name] though. My favorites are [name]Eulalie[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], and [name]Daphne[/name].

I voted for [name]Elena[/name], [name]Penelope[/name] and [name]Lilian[/name].

[name]Elena[/name], because this is my daughters name, and I really can’t think of a nicer name for any little girl. I love the name [name]Elena[/name] so much, I’m struggling to find something I’m as equally passionate for DD number 2, who is almost due! I think its classy, feminine, pretty and adorable. We call her [name]Lena[/name] and [name]Laney[/name] for short. I love this.

[name]Penelope[/name], because this is on my short list for DD number 2! Very pretty and underused, and although we’ll be using [name]Penny[/name] if we choose it, [name]Poppy[/name] is beautiful.

[name]Lilian[/name], because this was on my shortlist. I only like this if it WON’T be shortened to [name]Lily[/name] though, as [name]Lily[/name] is far too popular for my liking. [name]Lilian[/name] is stunning.

[name]Hope[/name] that helped!

Hello!
I voted for [name]Elena[/name] as it is the only one I could vote for in good conscience. A little tongue in cheek and I mean no disrespect but [name]Bluebell[/name] and [name]Appoline[/name] are not useable as first names really think of the teasing.
[name]Isobel[/name] is ok and useable, but [name]Ive[/name] got to say that I am so sick of hearing [name]Isabella[/name] all the time!
[name]Penelope[/name] is another name that is ok, but I have to say that I really dont like it on a personal level.
[name]Lillian[/name] is just meh in my opinion.
In the end choose a name you love and you yourself wouldnt mind having.
Take care and good luck!
ps. [name]Elena[/name] is beautiful and exotic!
