I’ve really be liking the name Truett recently, and was wondering if [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], which is one of my favorite names, would work as a nickname for it.
Also, bonus question, I go to a small college and one of the ‘celebs’ of my school, he’s in all the plays and everyone knows him, is called Truett. If I were to name my kid Truett in the future people would probably think I named him after the aforementioned guy, because it’s such a distinctive name. Should that deter me?
You can definitely use [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as a nickname. Heck, you can use [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as a first name! [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_m]Butler[/name_m], anyone? I wouldn’t let it deter you at all, honestly. If you aren’t close with him personally for him to think you’re honoring him or something, it definitely shouldn’t matter.
[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] works fine for a nickname for Truett. I like just [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as is.
Suggestions you may like to have [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as a nickname:
I adore Truett! I’m not as big on [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], but it would totally work as a nickname for Truett.
I don’t think that the Truett in your college should stop you from using the name. College is so short and afterwards, you’ll all go your separate ways and for the most part no one will associate it with the person after that.
I suggest deciding on either Truett OR [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] and naming him what you will be calling him. To me [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] isn’t a “natural” nn for Truett and it would be confusing. Both are legitimate names on their own so I don’t see the point of naming him Truett and using [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] as a nn. I love both names!
