[name]Do[/name] you pronounce [name]Rhianna[/name] and [name]Rihanna[/name] differently? Are they traditionally pronounced differently?
I’d say [name]Rhianna[/name] as “ree anne a” and [name]Rihanna[/name] as “ree ahn a”. No idea if they’re supposed to be pronounced differently though.
[name]Rhianna[/name]- “ree anna” [name]Rihanna[/name]- “ree on a” That’s how I pronounce them anyway
[name]Don[/name]'t name your kid after a pop star.
I say [name]Rhianna[/name] as [ree-anna] whereas I say [name]Rihanna[/name] as [ree-ahn-a]. Of the two, I prefer [name]Rhianna[/name] - but I really love [name]Rhiannon[/name]. [name]Rihanna[/name] is far too attached to the singer for my tastes.
I say both as [name]Ree[/name]-anna, but I have heard [name]Rihanna[/name] pronounced as [name]Ree[/name]-ahn-a (mostly in an American accent though, whereas mine’s British). Unfortunately I think with the prominance of the singer even a [name]Rhianna[/name] would get her name mispronounced or misspelled. You’ve got the similar [name]Rhiannon[/name] or [name]Rhian[/name] (it’s the Welsh form I believe, [name]Ree[/name]-ann), or possibly the somewhat tedious link to [name]Ryan[/name] or even [name]Ryann[/name] (ry-ann).
I agree with everyone else–I say [name]Rhianna[/name] as ree-anne-uh (or maybe rye-anne-uh) and [name]Rihanna[/name] as ree-ahn-ah. I agree that [name]Rihanna[/name] is way too close to the singer, but [name]Rhianna[/name] (or even better, imo, [name]Rhiannon[/name]), would be lovely.
[name]Rihanna[/name]. My niece is named [name]Rihanna[/name] [name]Marie[/name].
[name]Rhianna[/name] I think has a more classic look to it. [name]Both[/name] are shortened versions of the Welsh [name]Rhiannon[/name] anyway, which is much prettier and more classic. Or a lengthened version of the Welsh name [name]Rhian[/name], depending on how you look at them. [name]Rhiannon[/name]/[name]Rhian[/name] are both more attractive.
[name]Rhianna[/name]/[name]Rihanna[/name] are just “trendy” spellings of a very old name, that will fall out of favour. In my opinion anyway
