I like it but can’t use it due to one we know personally being such a massive troll. It is the surname of a woman I rather like, but that doesn’t quite balance things out.
I would ponder actually using the rather similar-style [name_f]Ceridwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Morrigan[/name_f]. [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] I love from afar. I don’t know many.
I’ve met 2 [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]'s in their 30’s. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names after the [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] song, of course. They were both very free spirited people. Good choice.
I like [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] very much. I know one in her 20-s who is very cheerful and funny so the name makes me think of her. She uses the spunky nickname Rhi, which I love, too. Good choice!
[name_f]My[/name_f] best friend’s name is [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]. It’s an adorable name, really. She goes by Rhi most of the time. She also gets called Rhino by little kids :3
I’m not a fan… Perhaps it feels dated but that could just be where I’m from ([name_m]Oz[/name_m]), also the ‘non’ ending. I’ve just never really liked it. That may change if I actually knew one personally though.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I know few Rhiannons personally, the name always sounded me too mythological, like it’s not a real name in use. That’s not necessarily a bad thingh though. I’d prefer the shorter name, [name_u]Rhian[/name_u].
I think of the [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] song when I hear it–which is not a bad thing (that’s how I always know how to pronounce it). If you love it, go for it. People will figure it out. I actually love Rhi as a nn, too.
[name_f]My[/name_f] 11 year old niece is named [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]. We were all a little unsure of it at first when she was born but it’s grown on everyone and definitely fits her. She loves her name. She does get alot of pronunciation issues though but I like it!
I know one [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] in my year, so she’s about 16, but not the best association, and my friend’s cousin is called [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]. I don’t really like it (not quite sure why), but it might have something to do with the fact it looks and sounds so much like [name_f]Rihanna[/name_f]. [name_f]Lovely[/name_f] meaning though!
I really like [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], and pronounce it the same way you do. It has a sort of weighty sagacity and understated femininity that I really like.
The only [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] I know in real life is my dad’s coworker, and I’ve only met her over Skype since she lives in the UK. But her name suits her very well and seems quite wearable!
It’s funny you say that. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister has a thing for boy names on girls and originally wanted to name my niece [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. Her husband changed his mind and [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] was their compromise.
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] is my middle name and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] IT! It was going to be my first name for ages but when I was born, I just didn’t look like a [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f], I looked like an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] instead. I really wish though that my parents had called me [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] as I think it’s fantastic. [name_m]Both[/name_m] my middles are after songs (my other mn is [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]) and it’s always a talking point with other people. I also have welsh heritage and family so it’s not just a coincidence
I love love [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] this name and am trying to convince my OH to love it just as much as me!
Well I figured I would chime in on this forum because my name is [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]… yes it is 9 times out of 10 pronounced incorrectly (unless someone knows a [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] or is aware of the [name_m]Fleetwood[/name_m] [name_m]Mac[/name_m] song). But at the age of 35 I just expect that they will mispronounce my name and don’t take it personally. It is a “big” name that comes with a “big” personality. lol
I used to wish I had a “normal” name but now I think my name has helped define me. I never had a nickname (never cared for Rhi) and hated when people tried to make my name easier for them.
PS. Most baby name sites don’t tell people this but [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] was also the name of a Welsh goddess. I have a whole book written about the goddess [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]. I think this makes the name even more special.
I think it’s very pretty, but I went to highschool with a [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f] who I disliked and she ruined the name for me. I still appreciate how pretty it is, though.
