Rhyming Middles

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

This is a matter that’s been on my mind lately. Some of my favorite middle names include [name_u]Kay[/name_u], [name_f]Faye[/name_f], [name_u]Rae[/name_u], and [name_u]Jay[/name_u]. Yes, they all rhyme.

WDYT about rhyming middles? Would it be unadvisable to have two or three children to have rhymes, and then one or two with completely different middles? Would you avoid similar rhythms, such as [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]? Should I just choose one and then leave the rest behind?

I would really appreciate opinions on this, so please reply.

I think it could be a nice sibling connection if you aren’t constantly calling them all by their full names because then it would seem too matchy abd cutesy. I do think [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] is too much all together though because [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] are so similar. If you did [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] and say… [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] then it wouldn’t seem so cutesy.

[name_f]My[/name_f] girls middles rhyme. [name_f]Renee[/name_f] and [name_f]Mae[/name_f], I love that they do. [name_m]Both[/name_m] of their names have musical qualities.

I do not see an issue with it, unless you plan to call them by their first and middle names, it could get to being too much than.

I agree with other comments. Unless you are going to call them by both names I think it’s fine. Otherwise it might get too cutesy. Would make ire the first names aren’t too matchy, though!

I love the idea!
I’m someone though who likes symmetry and continuity

I think it’s cheesy to use rhyming middles. I understand the draw of a connection, but I would personally be embarrassed to be named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f] with a sister named [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u]… especially with those first names (because they rhyme as well, not because they’re inherently embarrassing by any means). It makes sense that you like rhyming names- similar construction and repeating sounds… I totally get that. But yes, if you use a name, it’s generally advised to avoid others that rhyme, or are blatantly of the same root.

Oh I totally love rhyming middles! (I know, you couldn’t tell…) like [name_f]Tia[/name_f] and [name_f]Gia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lea[/name_f] or [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Faye[/name_f] and [name_u]Rae[/name_u]… the best thing is, that one letter can change the whole ‘taste’ of a name, its meaning and connotation. For me, [name_f]Tia[/name_f] and [name_f]Gia[/name_f] have really different meanings and associations. I think it’s nice for siblings to share rhyming middle names, especially that they’re middle - so obviously, in real life they wouldn’t use it often; also, the initials would be different, so there is even smaller chance anybody would notice the rhyming part (a sibling’s secret). As my last argument, I will add my example: my middle name is actually my younger sister’s first name! Really! (and she’s basically my only sibling). So, I say, I’d rather have my middle rhyming with her middle than the present situation.
