Hi, I’m wondering how people feel about twin names that rhyme. I love the name Aurora Cove and my husband joked we could have Aurora Cove and Briar Rose (from sleeping beauty). I’m just wondering whether rhyming names is something to avoid with twins
Thanks
I personally would t go for rhyming names. It would be so confusing, as if twins don’t get mixed up often enough already (even when they don’t look alike)!
But, [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Cove[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] don’t rhyme… so as long as you really adore Sleeping [name_f]Beauty[/name_f], you’re set with those.
I think you meant matching names? [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] (especially with middle Rose) are definitely on theme with Sleeping [name_f]Beauty[/name_f]. If you’re going with it, I feel like [name_u]Cove[/name_u] is the odd one out here. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] Cove’s flow is amazing.
Twins are generally confused a lot. I think rhyming names would just add to the confusion. I think names on themes (say: [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] for b/g twins) should be avoided, unless subtle. Something like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] & [name_f]Opal[/name_f] are great because they have a nature element to them yet give enough space for the twins to have individual personalities.
I agree that rhyming names should be avoided as it would get confusing. As said above, twins get mixed up when they have vastly different names, and similar rhyming names would just add to that confusion.
But matching names in terms of theme, etc. are fine!
If it’s a well-known/obvious theme or connection then it might be a little odd to some but if you love the names, it shouldn’t stop you!
I like matching and rhyming twin names but it seems most people don’t. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] are sweet together.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] don’t rhyme to me -more like a vague slant rhyme -Cora and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] would be too much, but [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] work
I’m assuming you’re talking about the middle names since [name_u]Cove[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] rhyme and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] and [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] (at least to me) don’t? Rhyming middle names are fair game to me for twins, I likely wouldn’t do it myself but I do think it’s really fun (I’m one of those people who has a hard time not using matching first initials for twin sets, just for reference lol).
I personally wouldn’t use rhyming first names for twins or any siblings really, as one of my key “does it work for siblings” indicators is whether they could be confused for one another either on paper or by ear.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Cove[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are very Sleeping [name_f]Beauty[/name_f], yes, but they’re a lovely pair of combos if you don’t mind that (and there are far worse associations to have).
I don’t think it rhymes, and I like the subtle theme!
[name_f]My[/name_f] personal rule for potential twins is, If I wouldn’t name siblings who aren’t twins that, then I wouldn’t name twins that either. [name_f]My[/name_f] reasoning is primarily to promote their individuality as twins, of course, but also because…as a parent, you’re gonna forget that they’re twins eventually. It’ll stop being as important as it seems right now, so it’s better to choose two names you like separately than a name you only like on a cute pair of twins.
I like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] together for the Disney theme, nature theme and the Alphabet tie !
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Cove[/name_u] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] are super darling together! I might try to find an alternative for rose but it’s a fun theme and subtle enough that not many people would notice.
Twin names that rhyme (Lily, Millie) or are too connected (Luke and Leia) are not my style.
