Considering the name [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] for our 2nd boy. Worried about pronunciation / spelling, but would like to stick to the classic/traditional spelling. [name_f]Love[/name_f] how it sounds! Would love to hear any experiences with the name good/bad. We live in [name_f]California[/name_f].
[name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is a common spelling where I am so most people would know it, but I believe itās on the rise in the states too - just did a quick check, and it is now the most popular spelling for boys
I like the rugged charm of [name_m]Rhys[/name_m]!
Iāve only known the name [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] since Iāve read the book series A [name_m]Court[/name_m] of Thorns & Roses. Thereās a character named Rhysand/Rhys
Iām curious, do you pronounce it āReeseā?
[name_m]Reading[/name_m] the book, I would pronounce it so the short form sounded like āWristā (without the ātā)
Interesting how many variations there could be for a name.
[name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is a great name! Itās definitely one of those names that grows with you. It sounds super cute for a baby and it gradually matures as he grows up!
We would pronounce it like [name_f]Reese[/name_f] Witherspoon. In all my research [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] seems like the most popular choice for spelling, linked to Welsh history where is it a very common name for a boy and never used for a girl in wales.
Iām in the UK so itās the common spelling for this name, but I know it has taken off somewhat abroad so I wouldnāt be too concerned. Taking into account other Welsh, Gaelic or Gaeilge names, Rhysā pronunciation isnāt too hard to work out from the spelling. I also think [name_m]Rhysand[/name_m] āRhysā from the well-known ACOTAR books has helped the name become more recognisable elsewhere.
[name_f]My[/name_f] brother is [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] - so I associate it with him (heās one of those lucky, funny, loveable guys and his name has that winsome charm!). I would think [name_f]Reese[/name_f] is a girlsā name or it would at least surprise me to meet a male [name_f]Reese[/name_f], so Iād personally opt for the [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] spelling. He very occasionally gets āriceā pronunciations but he always laughs it off.
I think [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is fully masculine while [name_f]Reese[/name_f] is feminine. If someone pronounces the name wrong, although I donāt think that will happen a lot, just firmly correct them right away.
[name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is lovely! Iām the opposite, I love the look of [name_f]Reese[/name_f] but feel guilty feeling like I should use the traditional spellingā¦ to me it doesnāt seem too problematic because of a baseball player that used to play for the team our family loves, everyone seems to know itās spelled [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] but they always say it right? Thatās really my only experience with it though. I feel like [name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is becoming very familiar in the states, though, so if you love [name_m]Rhys[/name_m], I would say go for it!
[name_m]Rhys[/name_m] is a great name! Itās energetic, interesting, happy and charming. I believe this spelling is intuitive for a boy. The pronounciation is simple too, in my opinion.
