Ria?

Today, I am loving the name [name_f]Ria[/name_f]. I met a girl (in her 20s) named [name_f]Ria[/name_f] today, and I immediately thought her name was awesome and was surprised that I had never considered it for a baby name. [name_f]Ria[/name_f] seems like it should be on-trend with the popularity of [name_f]Mia[/name_f], but it is not even in the top 1000 in the US. What do you all think about the name [name_f]Ria[/name_f]?

never heard of [name_f]Ria[/name_f] before. I’ve heard of [name_f]Rhea[/name_f], but that would be pronounced differently. It’s a tad short for me. I prefer [name_f]Aria[/name_f] or [name_f]Maria[/name_f].

I like it! I think it stands on its own and reminds me of vintage names like [name_f]Rita[/name_f]. I also found myself suggesting it as a nn for some other names the other day, like [name_f]Alexandria[/name_f].

I love it! I’ve never heard it before! Definitely add it to your list.

I’ve heard it as a nickname for [name_f]Valeria[/name_f], and as [name_f]Riya[/name_f], an exceptionally popular Hindi/Sanskrit name (I think it’s popular for [name_f]Indian[/name_f]-Americans since it’s a fairly easily pronounced compared to other names of that origin like Chandrakanta).

[name_f]Alexandria[/name_f] nn [name_f]Ria[/name_f] is cute!!

Riadh (pronounced [name_f]Ria[/name_f]) is an established Irish language name - just in case you find that interesting!

I did know of a [name_f]Rea[/name_f] many years ago (NZ Maori name). I wouldn’t mind both except that I can’t help but think “rear” which ruins them for me - but I think in some accents “rear” might be pronounced differently.

[name_f]Ria[/name_f] is my cousins nickname (her name is [name_f]Marianna[/name_f]). They pronounce it rye-uh.

I like it, but prefer the spelling [name_f]Rhea[/name_f], which has interesting mythological connections.

I like it. It would be a cute nickname for [name_f]Maria[/name_f]. I also like the spelling [name_f]Rhea[/name_f], which has interesting mythological connections.

To me it sounds like a nickname for a longer name. I like how it sounds, but I don’t like it as the full name.
