Okay so, I really like the name [name]Riley[/name] for a boy, but not necessarily spelt the traditional way? I’m not looking for anything too extreme either. So…which spelling do you like best? I’ve copied some spellings below from another website, I think most of them are a too extreme but I’m interested in what you all think, even if you just like the traditional [name]Riley[/name] (although I’d appreciate a second choice if you like it best). Again, I understand that a lot of these are too extreme and I don’t want anything super trendy or unique, just something that’s a little different. Maybe just [name]Reilly[/name]?
The only spellings I like are [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Reilly[/name]. It’s best to keep a name as simple and as legitimate to the original as possible. [name]Rylee[/name] and [name]Rylie[/name] (not on your list) are usually the spellings for girls which doesn’t make them more feminine in my opinion. All the best, [name]Mischa[/name].
Personally I think [name]Riley[/name] is best. [name]Every[/name] single person I know who has to explain the spelling of an otherwise normal name is annoyed with their parents. [name]Just[/name] my two cents!
Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought [name]Reilly[/name] was the traditional spelling? Everyone I’ve known with that last name has spelled it that way anyway!
Point being, the last name spelling version seems more masculine to me than [name]Riley[/name], so I’d go with [name]Reilly[/name]!
This is happenstance, but today my boyfriend was talking about a friend of his whom he referred to as ‘[name]Reilly[/name]’…then I looked up (we were in the car at the time) and saw a sign that read “[name]Reilly[/name]'s Garage” ahead of us. Apparently that was his friend’s last name (his first name = [name]John[/name]), but at first I thought it was his first name & thought it was a pretty cool first name!
So I must say that after today, I definitely dig the [name]Reilly[/name] spelling best.
Any [name]Riley[/name] with an -ee or -ie ending is the feminine version of the name. I prefer [name]Riley[/name] the best for a boy and then [name]Reilly[/name].
Personally ‘[name]Reilly[/name]’ looks like ‘really’ and feels too feminine for a boy. I would stick to [name]Riley[/name] or [name]Ryley[/name] and keep it simple. Good luck!
