I know a Rini, short for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], and I always thought it was such a unique nickname. She has always gone by Rini as a child and an adult–I prefer the Rini spelling to Rinnie.

We sometimes call our [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Rini, too! But I pronounce Rinnie and Rini differently. I would say Rinnie as [name_f]Rin[/name_f]-nee, and Rini is more [name_f]Ree[/name_f]-nee. I think either is cute, though, and work great as [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] nicknames.

Rinnie is close in sound to [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] and [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u], but I don’t think that’s a big deal. [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of names, especially nicknames, sound similar. ([name_f]Maggie[/name_f]/[name_f]Maddie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Edie[/name_f], [name_u]Abby[/name_u]/[name_u]Gabby[/name_u], etc.) As long as none of her siblings would use those nicknames, it’s fine.

It’s cute and unique, I actually love it! I wouldn’t like it as a full name alone but it’s really great as a short form of [name_f]Katherine[/name_f].

Its ok, I know a [name_f]Rina[/name_f] and a [name_f]Rin[/name_f] and love their names.

It’s not my cup of tea but I do think it is rather cute.
