I am back and forth between [name_u]River[/name_u] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_f]Luna[/name_f] for a little girl as a first name.
[name_u]River[/name_u]
pros: [name_u]Unique[/name_u], nature based, kind of tom-boyish in a good way but still feminine. In theory I like it most. Such a good mix of easy to spell and pronounce yet super original and cool.
Cons: [name_f]My[/name_f] parents will think it is strange, may be a little confusing to older people
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
pros: though I like [name_u]River[/name_u] more, I instinctively call her [name_f]Alice[/name_f] when I think of my baby being a girl. Maybe because I’ve had this name idea longer? [name_f]My[/name_f] parents like it more, it won’t be a strange thing to anyone, it is simple and modern and pretty and you just can’t go wrong with it. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland!
cons: So common! [name_f]Pretty[/name_f], but honestly kind of boring, it is not a name that will feel unique or stand out unless she has a huge personality that already stands out. I kind of roll my eyes when I hear someone has named their daughter something already super common like [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] or [name_f]Emma[/name_f], but [name_f]Alice[/name_f] seems to be in that same category of objectively good names that tons of other girls already have.
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
pros: [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] + [name_f]Nina[/name_f] = LUNA! This is actually pretty genius, combining the parent names to make the kid name and it actually sounds good! How often does that happen? Simple and pretty and grandparents will like, but it is still a nature name at the same time so it is Cool
cons: Also very common these days. I have an acquaintance who named her daughter who is now 8 [name_f]Luna[/name_f] and another who named her dog Luna… It could still work but technically there is already multiple Lunas in my life.
FYI
Our names are:
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_u]Eli[/name_u]
[name_m]Boy[/name_m] names I have are:
[name_m]Soren[/name_m] Akal
or
[name_m]Asmund[/name_m] [name_m]Ram[/name_m]
I like the continuity of Sanskrit names as middles, which is why her middle name will definitely be [name_f]Leela[/name_f]
Would it work best to give her multiple middle names and just let her choose which to use or see which one settles?
[name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Leela[/name_f] T.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Leela[/name_f] T.
[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Leela[/name_f] T.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_f]Leela[/name_f] T.
Should I nix one or two names and save them for another possible daughter? If so, which?
