Robin for a girl?

Hi everyone!
I’m really enjoying Robin (F) as a bit of a guilty-pleasure name lately.
The Robyn spelling is alright, but I like the straightforwardness of Robin.

What vibes / aesthetics do you get from Robin for a girl?
Also, would it be shortened to Rob?

Thank you!

I love [name_m]Robin[/name_m] for a girl! And strongly prefer the i spelling, like the bird. I don’t think a girl would get [name_m]Rob[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Robbie[/name_m] but the name is short enough already that it doesn’t seem inevitable. I get slightly retro, down to earth, quirky, fun, outdoorsy kind of vibes.

I like Robin too - I see it on someone with a robust beauty, charismatic, resourceful, reliable, and sporty. I imagine they’d get Rob and Robbie, and more than possibly Birdie, but maybe also Ro, Bonnie, Bibi or Binnie. I agree, thought, that it’s a name that could withstand nicknames at least most of the time.

[name_f]My[/name_f] mom’s name is [name_m]Robin[/name_m] and it has never been shortened to [name_m]Rob[/name_m]!

I think it’s sweet and cheerful and I love the name on any gender.

This post makes my heart happy as I LOVE [name_m]Robin[/name_m] and am so pleased you are thinking of her!
I personally do prefer [name_m]Robin[/name_m] on a boy (but only because I like the more feminine boys names, not because I think it sounds masculine.) [name_m]Robin[/name_m] on a girl is unexpectedly lovely!! I like the spelling [name_m]Robin[/name_m] best, and don’t think [name_m]Rob[/name_m] would be intuitive at all (I actually like [name_f]Bobbie[/name_f] though.)

Here is a quick moodboard!:

Not one of my personal favourites but really like for others. Vibes to me are plucky and outdoorsy. I don’t think [name_m]Rob[/name_m] is likely… weird as it should be the most intuitive, but I think the name is so short already and people won’t default to calling a girl [name_m]Rob[/name_m]. I do really like [name_m]Bob[/name_m] though… but probably wouldn’t be a spontaneously occurring nickname.

[name_m]Robin[/name_m] is fun and bubbly but solid too. It’s got a bit of a rough-and-tumble, outdoorsy vibe but could also feel quite sweet and quiet.

She might get called [name_m]Rob[/name_m] - you never know - but the Robyns I know have always been just [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] - I guess it just depends if it fits her vibe.

I like [name_m]Robin[/name_m] for a girl. I like it better for a girl than a boy.
I can’t imagine it’d be shortened to [name_m]Rob[/name_m] unless she asked for it.

I slightly prefer robin for a boy.

I love robin also on a girl. I think it has a fresh feel since it’s not used a lot . Great nature name for a girl.

Robin on a girl would be great! I’m not too keen on the spelling Robyn, but both sound nice. I think “Rob” is the best nickname, since I quite like masculine nicknames for girls, but Robbie works too (I prefer the spelling Robby, though). I think both are good options.

I love this moodboard!! And that’s such a lovely aesthetic.
I’ve been considering [name_f]Bobbie[/name_f] as a nickname but I didn’t know whether to spell it [name_f]Bobbie[/name_f] or [name_f]Bobbi[/name_f], but I much prefer [name_f]Bobbie[/name_f] written out!
[name_m]Robin[/name_m] nn [name_f]Bobbie[/name_f] is gorgeous
I don’t mind [name_f]Robyn[/name_f], but there’s just something about [name_m]Robin[/name_m]!

I really think [name_m]Robin[/name_m] is strictly feminine. and I think [name_m]Robby[/name_m] is adorable on a girl (Bobby could also be a cute nickname for Robin)

[name_m]Robin[/name_m] sounds like a pretty girl’s name to me! Gives me red, bright, spunky vibes lol. I think [name_m]Robin[/name_m] is too short to be naturally shortened, but [name_m]Robbie[/name_m] is a cute nickname!

[name_m]Robin[/name_m] is lovely!

I do prefer [name_m]Robin[/name_m] for a boy however I think [name_m]Robin[/name_m] works wonders for a girl she’s warm, strong, enduring, very beautiful and has a sweet Christmassy feel. I picture log cabins within the mountains, birds chirping, a thin layering of frost and [name_f]Christmas[/name_f] trees decorated with red and [name_m]Green[/name_m] decorations. I know people called [name_m]Robin[/name_m] who have never been called [name_m]Robbie[/name_m] I think for me I would use [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a nickname.

I think [name_m]Robin[/name_m] works for a girl (and definitely prefer it to Robyn)

When I see [name_m]Robin[/name_m] my first thought is always [name_m]Robin[/name_m] Scherbatsky off of How I Met Your Mother, but I love the show and love [name_f]Cobie[/name_f] Smulders (the actress who plays her)

Overall the name [name_m]Robin[/name_m] makes me think of a tomboy, she’s determined, she’s ambitious, when she sets her mind to something she does it no matter what people say, doesn’t give up easy, works hard, friendly, outgoing, sticks up for what she believes in and gets along with everyone

where I’m from (western european country), [name_m]Robin[/name_m] is considered a gender neutral, but I actually know more female [name_m]Robins[/name_m] than male ones  [name_m]Robin[/name_m] is someone who is tied to nature, maybe with an academic feel to her, and someone who is grounded
