I think it’s usable!!
I love it!
I associate the ‘[name_u]Robin[/name_u]’ spelling with boys, and the ‘[name_f]Robyn[/name_f]’ spelling with girls.
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] is solidly a boys’ name for me!
Wonderful for a boy! [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is such a sweet, smart, likeable name.
[name_f]Robyn[/name_f] is currently the preferred spelling for girls in the UK, so [name_u]Robin[/name_u] leans more to the male side to me. It’s the sort of name that I would be reluctant to classify for either gender - it works well on both. But I certainly wouldn’t automatically assume that someone called [name_u]Robin[/name_u] were a girl.
Please use it! I loved it but wasn’t husband approved. To answer your question, I guess it’s gender neutral because it is a bird, but I only see appealing on a boy. Now [name_f]Robina[/name_f] is sweet for a girl but I definitely love [name_u]Robin[/name_u] for a boy
While I considered this a neutral name I especially love it for a boy and voted accordingly!
Like others have said, it’s technically gender neutral but I just adore it for a little boy!
Honestly, I find the name a bit dated on a girl but really fresh for a boy!
Thank you all so much! I feel much more confident now
I think [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is adorable for a boy! He could easily go by [name_m]Rob[/name_m]/[name_u]Robbie[/name_u] or even [name_m]Ben[/name_m], if he needed to, but the association to [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is adorable, and it’s a very sweet name! I’ve considered it, myself, in honor of [name_m]Robert[/name_m], a family name.
I’d love to meet a little [name_u]Robin[/name_u]!
While it could be either, I love it more for a boy.
I like [name_u]Robin[/name_u] for a boy! Though I agree that it leans pretty gender neutral I always think [name_u]Robin[/name_u] Hood when I see the name and i think thats a little boy would enjoy that type of connection.
I think it’s more feminine, but not unusable for a boy.
Completely usable. I know a 15 yo boy named [name_u]Robin[/name_u].
I know a couple of female [name_m]Robins[/name_m], in their 50s and 60s. Other than that, it’s not being used, so perfect time for the boys to reclaim it.
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
I voted gender-neutral because for me it really does depend on the spelling.
I have known equal male [name_u]Robin[/name_u]'s and female [name_f]Robyn[/name_f]'s. Personally when I first hear it I think of it as a female name, but I may be biased as it is the name of one of my closest friends.
If I came across a male [name_u]Robin[/name_u] I wouldn’t bat an eyelid - [name_m]Rob[/name_m] and [name_u]Robbie[/name_u] are already traditionally boys nicknames.
I think it’s usable for a boy, but it leans a bit more towards the girl’s side for me, though.
I really like it for a boy, so I think it’s perfectly usable. From the people I’ve met girls tend to spell it [name_f]Robyn[/name_f].
