Rewatched a horror movie recently and the protagonist was a female named [name_m]Rocky[/name_m], and I quite like it.
Wdyt? I also like the idea of [name_f]Roksana[/name_f] ‘[name_m]Rocky[/name_m]’, and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] + a K middle name ‘[name_m]Rocky[/name_m]’.
I’m sorry, but as a full name, no. It just sounds like a dog name to me, and the most obvious nickname is “rock”
I think [name_f]Roksana[/name_f]/[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] “[name_m]Rocky[/name_m]” could be cute if she had the personality to back it up though! I love both names. What about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]?
Honestly, it’s not my style but its not the worst I’ve heard.
Years ago there was a Grandma [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] who picked her grandkids up from the daycare I worked at. I’m not sure I ever knew her given name. She was a young cool grandma, though.
I’m not keen on [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] as standalone first name (on either a girl or boy for that matter), but as a nickname for [name_f]Roksana[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] K- it could work. As far as I’m concerned, most anything goes as nickname.
[name_f]Roksana[/name_f] is more intuitive, and still has that spunky sound, while using [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] would give [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] a softer, lighter, gentler name as backup if she decides one day that [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] just isn’t for her. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Kerensa[/name_f] “[name_m]Rocky[/name_m]” would be lovely - a nice contrast between formal and informal, and frilly-feminine and ‘tomboyish’.
I have Rozanica on my own long-list that would work as a more intuitive full name for [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] if that interests you at all. Rozanica is an ancient, Slavic mother goddess, her name literally meaning “genitrix; generatrix” therefore with underlying meanings of “heritage, ancestry; mother; destiny”.
In the Netflix series ‘[name_m]Fuller[/name_m] House’, Rocki’s full first name is [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]. This is the type of character I can see “[name_m]Rocky[/name_m]” working well for.
It makes me think of [name_f]Zendaya[/name_f]’s character on Shake it Up. [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] isn’t my style and I don’t like it as a full name, but [name_f]Roksana[/name_f] nn [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] is fierce.
I think its totally usable.
[name_f]Roxie[/name_f] is the more common nn, used for [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f].
But [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] could definitely work; [name_f]Roksana[/name_f] sounds really rock’n’roll and cool, imo. I’d love to meet someone with this name.
For a nickname, sure! For a full name, definitely not.
What about [name_f]Raquel[/name_f]? I knew a [name_f]Raquel[/name_f] who occasionally was called [name_m]Rocky[/name_m]. I also like [name_f]Roxana[/name_f], with an X.
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] K____ nn [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] sounds fantastic! I really like that idea. It sounds cool and fierce. [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] is a great nickname for a brave, adventurous and independent woman.
I’ve only seen [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_f]Raquel[/name_f] & a girl named [name_f]Regina[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u]. Its definitely a super cute nickname
As a nickname, it’s fine - almost anything can work as a nickname. I know girls with the nicknames Rookie and [name_u]Rikki[/name_u], so [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] isn’t that far off.
I wouldn’t use it as a first name at all. Boy or girl.
I love [name_f]Roksana[/name_f] nn [name_m]Rocky[/name_m]/Rocki/Roki. I think if you use an odd spelling for [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] that people won’t take such umbrage at it as a name.
As a standalone name, not so much but I love [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f], [name_f]Raquel[/name_f], [name_f]Rochelle[/name_f], etc.
