Romy or Romilly

Like / dislike? Which do you prefer and why?

romy by far! romy is just such a sweet, light, and happy name! romilly has always sounded awkward and unnatural to me.

I love both of these names
I prefer [name_f]Romee[/name_f] over [name_u]Romy[/name_u] but love [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] much more than any of those names

[name_u]Love[/name_u] both. If I had a few daughters or dogs, one would be [name_f]Rowena[/name_f], nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u], and another would be [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. So while I like [name_u]Romilly[/name_u], I like [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] more.

romy is perfect on her own! romilly is cute but a mouthful, and romy is playful and fun.

I love both and go back and forth but I slightly prefer the bubbly and cheery sounds of [name_u]Romilly[/name_u].

I’ve never encountered [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] in real life and I never know how it’s supposed to be pronounced - ro-MILL-ee? RO-mih-lee? ROM-uh-lee (same rhythm as Emily)? I think it looks really pretty but I don’t quite know what to do with it.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] both! I would pick just [name_u]Romy[/name_u] for myself, but I do love [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] and [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as well :white_heart:

I like [name_u]Romy[/name_u]! If you like [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] and [name_u]Romy[/name_u], would [name_u]Rory[/name_u] work?

Interesting! Me too but then I heard the bbc news introducing [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] Weeks their reporter and they said it as ROHmilly

[name_u]Romilly[/name_u] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] feels more complete!

I also think [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] is more complete, and the sound of [name_u]Romy[/name_u] has never appealed to me. I like the ROM-il-ee pronunciation. I think it’s sweet and, though very unusual, still sounds like a name.

Romy!! I din’t particularly care fir either, but [name_u]Romy[/name_u] sounds more gentle than the rather uptight [name_u]Romilly[/name_u]

I’d go for [name_u]Romy[/name_u]. I find it to be vintage and Euro-chic, because of the [name_u]Romy[/name_u] Schneider association. [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] sounds awkward to me - in my accent it would sound like “raw Millie”.
