Rory as a nickname for Rosamund/Rosemonde

So what do you think? Is [name_u]Rory[/name_u] to far fetched of a nickname for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemonde[/name_f] - still not sure of my favorite spelling…also like [name_f]Rosemund[/name_f]. Thanks for the help.

Nope not too much of a stretch at all. I prefer [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] spelling but it’s not my favorite of the Roses - I like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] better. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is a great nickname!

It’s a bit of a stretch for me. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] would make more sense I suppose for [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] (1st 2 letters + last 2).

I think for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f]/Rosamonde, [name_u]Romy[/name_u] makes more sense. I see [name_u]Romy[/name_u] as more of a girl nickname anyway, whereas [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is unisex.

As for spelling, I like [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosamond[/name_f] without the e.

I totally think [name_u]Rory[/name_u] could work. It adds the cuteness and spunk to [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] (I prefer this spelling).

Not a stretch! Makes perfect sense to me. I like [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] best.

It is a stretch to me.
Doesn’t sound like a natural sounding nn… but it’s your kid!

However, I will agree with @emsky that [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] is the best fit for [name_u]Rory[/name_u]

It’s too much of a stretch to me. I could see [name_u]Rory[/name_u] working for [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] though. [name_u]Romy[/name_u] would work better as a nickname for for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f].

I agree it works better for [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]. [name_u]Romy[/name_u] is also a great nickname and works for your preferred “[name_f]Rose[/name_f]” names.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have a middle name picked out? Perhaps something that begans with an R? [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_u]Rae[/name_u]. Or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Renae[/name_f]. But you’d have to like the alliteration sound, which can be heavy with the “R” sound.

I love the nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u], but this is too much of a stretch for me. Of course, if you called your daughter that I’m sure it would stick, but I prefer [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a nn to [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]…

[name_u]Rory[/name_u] works really well for [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and well enough to consider for [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], but I think I’d call a [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_m]Rommie[/name_m]. (not like rome-y, but the first syllable in rom-com)

I prefer both [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_m]Rommie[/name_m] to [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], which I cannot deal with.

I think it works, especially if you add an R middle name. [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Riona[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_f]Rita[/name_f], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f] [name_u]River[/name_u]…
