I’ve been playing around with combos while I’m revamping my list, and this is one that’s really stuck with me, but I can’t seem to find a second middle name to complete the combo. [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] already honors one of my grandmothers, so I don’t feel the need to include a second family name–I just don’t know what to complete it with. Any ideas, Berries?
Thanks, @emsky! I love a lot of those names, but I’m not sure about some of them with [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] (which is so long!). I am quite intrigued by [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m], though–I think I’ll hold onto it for a while and whirl it around in my mind for a bit! I had thought of [name_m]Zane[/name_m] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], but had ultimately rejected it.
I’m also sort of thinking of [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]/[name_u]Elias[/name_u], although I’m not sure if I love them. I like that they could honor my sister, too, and not just my grandmother that way. Maybe another “E” name?
Wow, [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] is a very handsome name! I’ll go off your most recent comment for more “E” names.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_u]Ellison[/name_u]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Eamonn[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Eberhardt[/name_m] (maybe too much name but I actually really like the way it sounds!)
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Emrys[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Espen[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]
Others (I think a long vowel sounds nice with [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]):
Thanks, @katiem333! The “E” names was just a thought I’d had–but I certainly don’t need to follow it. I do like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], though, and it’s gone onto my list of maybes! I’m also thinking about [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m], since for a while there I was obsessed with the combo [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m]/[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Maximilien[/name_m]. I love your idea of a short name with a long vowel sound, but I am not sure I’m too keen on those examples that you gave, unfortunately!
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] is pretty nice on its own. But if you’re set on two middles how about a traditional strong masculine one on the end?
I do like the idea of a classic name to follow [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m], actually, although I have [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] on my list of FNs, so I’d like to see if I could find a different name.
I would also REALLY like to get [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] on my list, but is [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] too much [name_m]French[/name_m] literature? I adore the musketeers AND The [name_m]Count[/name_m] of [name_m]Monte[/name_m] Cristo, and I love both [name_m]Maximilien[/name_m] and [name_m]Aramis[/name_m], but I feel like together it may be too much. I’m also thinking of [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] or [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m]…
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] is very handsome Since it’s pretty long I’d use a short middle name, ideally one syllable. What about:
I think [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] is handsome and not “too much [name_m]French[/name_m] lit” at all. It’s been a long while since I’ve read either, though.
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] has a pleasant sound to it, and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Harbor[/name_u] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] is an awesome combo.
@bonfireazalea - thanks! I had thought of [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but it seemed like such a letdown after [name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m].
@mill1020 - you’re probably right. I read [name_m]Monte[/name_m] Cristo in the last year, and I’m in love with the BBC series about the musketeers, so I’m probably more in tune to it than others. I’m picky about where I like [name_m]Aramis[/name_m], though, and and I’m sort of iffy on [name_m]Maximilian[/name_m] [name_m]Aramis[/name_m] for some reason.
