Rosalie and Rosemary

[name_f]My[/name_f] best friend just had her third girl and named her [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. Now, I am not close to having children, but I have been in love with the name [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] lately. It is the name of a family friend who passed away before her time and have been very keen on the idea of using it if I have a daughter. This is not to say I would change my mind in the next year + of not even trying for a baby, but I digress. We would call our [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Romy[/name_u] if not her full name. [name_f]My[/name_f] question for you - are [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] too close for girls that would basically be raised as cousins (would probably see one another around 6+ times a year)? [name_f]My[/name_f] SO says yes and says it should be off the table, but I think it is different enough, especially with the likeliness that we would call her [name_u]Romy[/name_u]… opinions?

Well first I think you are your SO have to be in complete agreement for a name to work, but no I don’t think it’s too close. It would be too close for sisters, but unless she’s seeing [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] once a week or more I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, especially since [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] will be probably be older if not significantly older than your daughter if you have a daughter

In short, don’t worry about it! <3

I would always keep it as an option and when you have a daughter decide on how you and your partner feel about using [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry too much right now, especially if you love the name and it has a lot of significance for you.
