Rosaline Pronunciation

A simple question: how do you pronounce [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]?

Further, for extra credit, if you know someone named [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f], do you happen to know what it most frequently gets pronounced as by strangers?

I’m trying to figure out how much of a curse this name would be to give a child.

I would pronounce it exactly like it is spelled, [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] and line, not lynn or leen. I know some pronounce it [name_f]Roz[/name_f] but I love the [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] variation best.

I say Rose-uh-Leen. That was the way one of my Theatre teachers insisted was the “correct” way to say it the year we did [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] & [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and I can’t shake that . I would assume Rose-uh-Line and Rose-uh-Lyn to be correct too, and thats what I have most commonly heard as guesses during my years in Shakespeare-related Theatre studies for clarification, I know Rosalyn’s and Rosalie’s but no Rosaline’s outside of the Theatre stuff, but I know a ton of Madeline’s and everyone assumes [name_u]Lynn[/name_u] or [name_f]Line[/name_f]

For the [name_f]Roz[/name_f] pronunciation I would always assume the name was spelled [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_f]Roslyn[/name_f], because, again, Theatre. Anyone I know irl would always assume the [name_f]Rose[/name_f] beginning though, regardless of spelling. If you’re concerned about the ending, I think you could get any number of [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], [name_f]Line[/name_f], or [name_f]Leen[/name_f] assumptions but that could be easily corrected.
