Rosalyn Ann…husband doesn’t like it 😭

[name_m]Just[/name_m] complaining on here I guess, of looking for help to get over the name I’m currently obsessing over at 38 weeks that my husband refuses to budge on…I LOVE [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] for some reason and if our baby is a girl I keep thinking of her as Rosalyn!!!:sob:
Our other option is [name_f]Claire[/name_f] Elaine/Claire [name_f]Ann[/name_f] which I do love too, but pregnancy brain has me obsessing over [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] :grimacing:

It’s hard to let go of a name you love, that’s completely understandable!

Is there some kind of compromise you could have with your husband? Maybe another Ros- name that he likes, or spelling Rosalyn differently, or Rosalyn with a different middle name? A strategy I always find useful is consuming media with good characters with names that I want to like. For example, my girlfriend’s favourite name is Mae, so I played a really good game with a main character called Mae which made me fall in love with it because of the character, even if I didn’t like it before!

If none of these work, then sadly you probably have to let the name go. I’d try to stop thinking of your daughter as Rosalyn in your head, even if it might be difficult to make the change! You could also refresh your thoughts on baby names by reconsidering your choices past Rosalyn and Claire, you might find something you love just as much as Rosalyn!

[name_m]Ah[/name_m], that’s tough.

[name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is a beautiful name - and whether or not you use it, it remains wonderful. Keep it as a name you like, one that means something to you - one to tell your child about in the future if they ask for their almost name/other names you considered for them. That will be a nice story to share, and a special one to answer with!

Perhaps a compromise would be something like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] Rosanne/Claire Rosanna/Claire [name_f]Rosann[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] Annarose/Anna [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Roselle[/name_f], [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f]?

Is there a specific reason he doesn’t like it? Would he prefer [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] maybe?
[name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] is nice.

Would [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] be an option? I agree that knowing specifically what he dislikes about it would help to find a compromise.

I’m in agreement with previous posters, maybe he would compromise to something similar? I thought I’d also suggest [name_f]Claire[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f], [name_f]Rosaline[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]?

I appreciate all the feedback! I want to be fair to him and his opinion and feelings of course— there are some names he suggested that I didn’t like so he’s allowed to dislike something…I just need to get passed my obsession of the name :sweat_smile:

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] would be so pretty, and has a totally different vibe. Would he consider?

If you feel her name is [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] then you absolutely have to go for it
There’s so many nickname options with [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] too maybe that will help sway him? [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_u]Lyn[/name_u], [name_f]Lynnie[/name_f] :crossed_fingers:

[name_f]Annabell[/name_f] [name_f]Annie[/name_f] [name_u]Laine[/name_u] could be similar options for middle names too.

Would he like an alternative to [name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] possibly? Something similar as a compromise like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f] perhaps?

[name_f]Rosalyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is so pretty I can totally understand why it’s so hard to let go of !
