Rosary as a name?

i love Rosary as a name and would love to call a little girl Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] or Rosary [name_u]Day[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] (which way do you prefer?) but others have said that she would be bullied. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think she would be? is this name usable ?

I think it sounds nice, I’m not sure about it myself but I don’t think she would get bullied. I think that Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] sounds very pretty and unique while still being familiar.

She would probably end up being called [name_f]Rose[/name_f] though.

Very heavy on the religious imagery, but definitely a pretty sound. She’ll probably end up being [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] a lot, which I think is sweet.

Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] has a better flow, but I don’t know about your surname. [name_u]Day[/name_u] sounds like a surname so it might be better to be Rosary [name_u]Day[/name_u] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] ‘surname’. I think that is probably fine either way. I do love [name_f]Frances[/name_f] though.

I prefer Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u]
Honestly, I am not a huge fan of the religious association but I do really like its sound. I like Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u]'s sweet, vintage feel a lot
I doubt she’d get bullied because of her name
Also, I quite like nicknames [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_u]Rory[/name_u] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u]/[name_m]Ary[/name_m]/[name_u]Arie[/name_u]

I might expect a girl named Rosary to come from a devout Catholic family. I don’t know if that’s an issue for you or not but it’s something to be aware of. I don’t think there’s anything obviously “teasable” about it though.

If you’re unsure about Rosary, [name_u]Rosario[/name_u] and [name_f]Rosaria[/name_f] have the same meaning.

Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] is so pretty, unexpected, and adorable.

I would use it as a middle name, but it totally works in the first name spot.

I don’t think she would be bullied, but due to the heavy religious meaning, I don’t think it works as a name.

[name_u]Rosario[/name_u] is pretty common in Spain, so I don’t find Rosary weird or highly associated with a religious family.

I think its really pretty, and has easy nicknames too. Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] is a simply gorgeous combo

You took the words out of my mouth.

People will probably mistake it for [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] her whole life, and then make comments about her being Catholic? - both of which would get very stale.

It’s a pretty word, but not a name to have to live with.

I prefer Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u]. But…I do think it is very heavily religious, if that isn’t an issue than go ahead.

[name_u]Rosario[/name_u] is a GP of mine, and I love the cadence of names like [name_f]Romilly[/name_f], [name_u]Romany[/name_u], [name_f]Thessaly[/name_f]… so in theory I think Rosary makes for a very lovely, pretty, demure yet quietly quirky name.

However, the religious undertones would be too much for me personally (as an atheist); I don’t think it makes the name unusable though, if the religious aspect isn’t an issue for you. It’s a beautiful, positive word so an ideal candidate for use as a word-name!

My issue with the name isn’t that she’ll be bullied on the playground, but rather that she’ll have to go her entire life with an EXTREMELY religious, specific name. It’s more of a Catholic word being used as a name, which makes it stand out more than [name_f]Eve[/name_f] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u] would. I don’t like it.

I’m sorry if this comes off as harsh but I honestly think it’s just too much. Also, I agree with the other poster who said that she’ll be mistaken as [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] her whole life. Sorry :/.

haha we are Catholic so probably not an issue in that sense

i love the nicknames [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], or [name_f]Rosy[/name_f]-[name_f]Posy[/name_f] for a baby!

I agree with the others about it having a heavy religious imagery. I don’t mind most religious names but I’m not sure about this one, especially since you don’t know what religion or if any your child will be and they may not like a name so closely tied to the Catholic Church. Plus there are other [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names I like much more like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u], [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], [name_f]Rosabelle[/name_f]. Out of your two combos I think Rosary [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] flows better.

No… I really dislike it. As a Catholic, using Rosary as a name makes me uncomfortable, I guess. It’s not that I’m offended by it, but I’d think the parents were ignorant to the religious imagery of the name. It’s just not a name. I’m not sure how else to put it. It also wouldn’t matter to me if you were Catholic or not. I’d still find it weird and slightly unnerving.

I think it would make most people who meet her pause, and I’d make sure you’re ok with that - she always has the option to call herself [name_f]Rose[/name_f] if she isn’t a fan. I find it difficult to envision a Rosary, mostly because of the religious association. I personally would use [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u] or [name_f]Rosamund[/name_f], only because I grew up with a family member who despised her name and really let it affect her (but didn’t actually change it).
