Rose vs Rosalie?

Hello Berries!

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I have recently been discussing names that we would like to use for a sibling for our son, [name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u]. I love his name so much and feel anxious about finding another combination we love as much.

We’re recently smitten with the name [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. I love that it’s easy to spell, spunky-feeling, and fresh sounding (at least we don’t hear it in the Midwest very often!). But next to [name_u]Miles[/name_u], does it feel too frilly or long? We love the nickname [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], as well. Would [name_f]Rose[/name_f] be a better fit with [name_u]Miles[/name_u]? It still has great nickname options, I don’t hear it all the time in our region, and I think it matches [name_u]Miles[/name_u] well.

Please give me your opinions! Thanks!!

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] doesn’t feel at all frilly to me personally! To me it feels slightly more natural with [name_u]Miles[/name_u], actually, because they’re both trendy names at the moment, whereas [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is more of an all-around classic! That said I think [name_f]Rose[/name_f] also works great with [name_u]Miles[/name_u], so I wouldn’t worry about how well [name_f]Rose[/name_f] vs [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] matches [name_u]Miles[/name_u] - they both do! I’d just focus on picking the name you like best!

I think they both complement [name_u]Miles[/name_u] well, I actually agree with other pp that [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] goes better stylistically but [name_f]Rose[/name_f] works too and if you use [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Rose[/name_f] you have the best of both worlds.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_u]Miles[/name_u] are wonderful together; [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] has that feel of being familiar but full of flair, as does [name_u]Miles[/name_u] imo! I actually think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] goes better than [name_f]Rose[/name_f] :person_shrugging:

I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a better fit with [name_u]Miles[/name_u]! That gives each name a different ending sound, while [name_u]Miles[/name_u] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] both end in that same s/z sound. I don’t think of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] as being too frilly at all. Its beautiful and, like you said, spunky and fresh!

There are a few names that I love while really disliking very similar names. This is one of them! I adore [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] but have never been keen on [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Being a 90s kid, it felt like a filler middle name much like [name_f]Ann[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_u]Lynn[/name_u], etc.

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is really sweet and I love it with [name_u]Miles[/name_u]! I actually really like the simple [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], too! Very vintage and spunky and slightly jazzy like [name_u]Miles[/name_u]. But, I get that [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] may feel a little nickname-y for a proper name, so I thrill [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is a great fit!

Not sure if you’ve got a middle name in mind, but with [name_u]Miles[/name_u] [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], I think doing something short & classic would be great. I love how the syllables would be reversed in the sibset (1:3 & 3:1).

Maybe…

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]Blair[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]

Yes! We really like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] as a nickname, too. I would be open to using it as the proper first name, but the first syllable of our last name is [name_f]Eve[/name_f], so the last syllable in [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] gets kind of lost when said out loud. You really understand the names we like!! I love [name_u]Blair[/name_u] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for first names, as well, but my husband vetoed them. We’re considering an M middle name (that way we’d all have an M somewhere in our initials. [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], my husband’s middle name is [name_m]Mitchell[/name_m], then [name_u]Miles[/name_u] has his M in his first time. [name_m]Just[/name_m] a tiny way for the four of us to be a little more connected.) Possibly [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Maris[/name_f].

Both names are gorgeous!

I have always loved [name_f]Rose[/name_f] she’s absolutely gorgeous so classic, romantic and timeless with gorgeous floral connotations. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] works wonders with [name_u]Miles[/name_u].

[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is very sweet a lovely melodic rose variant that has a European flair and oozes elegance. Again [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] feels romantic like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] but maybe a touch frillier but I wouldn’t say over the top on the frilly front. I think [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] also works wonders with [name_u]Miles[/name_u] they make a very fashionable pairing.

Personally I prefer [name_f]Rose[/name_f] however both names are beautiful and as you clearly prefer [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] go with her. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Maris[/name_f] is dreamy. Honestly She is beautiful :rose:
