Rosemary middle name(s)

We have a new baby, #2 for us! Our first, a girl, has a very meaningful and incredibly unique name (with two middle names). Think: Boudicca Iris Henderson (not her name, but you get the idea). We love it. It’s not traditional, but easy to spell, and on the shorter side.

For our second, also a girl, we are both liking Rosemary. I don’t LOVE the nickname Rose or Rosie as I find them a bit precious, but do love the full name, its meaning, and I would call her Ro as a NN and she can decide what to go by when she’s older.

We wanted an honour middle name for my dad, who has terminal cancer. Names we are working with are Keith and Alexander. Is Rosemary Alexandra too much, considering how non-traditional and ‘out there’ our first is? Could we get away with a second middle name in this case or would that be a mouthful? The last name is two syllables, easy to pronounce and spell.

Sorry for the ramblings - day two of no name and little sleep with the new one. Any feedback is appreciated!

Alternatively - I LOVE the earthiness of Rosemary and lean to less popular names. Love Ro as a NN. If you have other meaningful suggestions, I would hear them. We also liked Sybil, Fiadh, Meadow, and I adored Ceridwen but figured pronunciation would be an issue in my country.

ETA: if it was a boy, he would have been Ronan Keith, if that helps at all. We waited to find out sex!

For Alexandra you could go for a shorter and feminine spelling of Alexander such as Alexa or Alyx. I love the flow of Rosemary Alexa, but Alexa might have too many ties with the Google voice assistant now.

If you want to go for Keith you could do Keira (which would be my top pick for a middle name as I’m not a big fan of any form of Alex.) Also, I love the flow of Rosemary Keira.

I love [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]! I don’t think it’s too much at all. I feel it’s a nice balance between the softness of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] and strenght of [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f].

If I may give some suggestions…
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilith[/name_f]
[name_f]Leorit[/name_f]
[name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Eirlys[/name_f]
[name_f]Primrose[/name_f]
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]

[name_u]Welcome[/name_u] to Nameberry, and congrats on your new addition!

I don’t think [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is too much at all. I actually think the length might make it more comparable to your first daughter’s name. I also think you could add a second (short!) middle name. Not sure if you already have one picked out, but something like [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] would be great!

A few suggestions:
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]
[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f]
[name_f]Lavender[/name_f]
[name_u]Fern[/name_u]
[name_f]Araminta[/name_f]
[name_f]Branwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Arianell[/name_f]

Thank you! [name_f]Keira[/name_f] is a clever choice, I’ll add it to our discussion. I’m not the biggest fan of [name_u]Alex[/name_u] typically, but it is an inherited middle name on dads side of the family so figured it would be a nice nod. I wasn’t sold on [name_m]Keith[/name_m] or Ketha as a middle name for a girl, lol! [name_m]Even[/name_m] just [name_u]Alex[/name_u] may be sweet. Thanks for the suggestions.

We liked [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] was a childhood favorite of mine! [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] is so beautiful, too.

I’m even wondering about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Alex[/name_u] but that may be too cutesy for our naming style and straying from the honour name.

I think you could use two middles - so long as you check it will fit in with any character restrictions on registration forms where you live (if there are any!)

Rosemary Alexandra ‘Ro’ is nice! I think a more unique second middle would be great too!

A few suggestions:

Rosemary Alexandra Carys
Rosemary Alexandra Meadow
Rosemary Alexandra Eilidh
Rosemary Alexandra Celeste
Rosemary Alexandra Seren
Rosemary Alexandra Freydis
Rosemary Alexandra Lumi
Rosemary Alexandra Lenore

A few alternative single middle name ideas, honouring your dad:

Not sure if creative honours are for you, but this is what I came up with!

Rosemary Ardith
Rosemary Kassandra
Rosemary Kerith
Rosemary Sandrine
Rosemary Lysandra
Rosemary Sylvania (same meaning as Keith)
Rosemary Athena
Rosemary Alara
Rosemary Alexia
Rosemary Keira
Rosemary Keeva Landry
Rosemary Katrin Astraea
Rosemary Kathleen Adair

A few other names inspired by Rosemary, Sybil, Fiadh, Ceridwen and Meadow:

Isolde
Ophelia (means help, similar to Alexander)
Embla
Olwen
Kerrigan
Myrtle
Branwen
Romilly / Romy
Ramona (similar meaning to Alexander - protector and defender)
Elspeth
Forest
Elowen

I would totally use [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f]! In my mind, [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is bold and unique and more on the fantasy, queen-like side than the traditional side of names.

First, I like Ro bur couldn’t miss Romy as a nn for a Rosemary / could Romy also be an option?

And Rosemary Alexandra works, I would use this or Alex/Alexa if you want to keep the length of names comparable between kids.

Otherwise maybe Alexandra Keathly? :tangerine::tangerine:

I think it’s fine!

Try: [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexia[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alessia[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] as IMO those are less discordant with the earthiness of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] than [name_u]Alexis[/name_u] or some such.

If you wanted a more “out there” alternative, you could do [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Keitha[/name_f] or [name_f]Keitha[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn Key or [name_f]Ro[/name_f]

What about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Lex[/name_u]?
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Lexi[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] (short version of [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] in Russian)
[name_u]Shura[/name_u], [name_f]Sandra[/name_f], [name_f]Sondra[/name_f], [name_u]Sandy[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Keitha[/name_f] (a legit Scottish girl name apparently!)
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] (cute! That could be similar to [name_m]Keith[/name_m] ey?)

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Keitha[/name_f] [name_u]Lex[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] [name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_f]Keitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_u]Alexi[/name_u] [name_f]Keitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alessandra[/name_f] [name_u]Kit[/name_u]

Yeah haha idk…

I was thinking of [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] because I know you really like both of those names and it flows well.

How about these?
Alexandria
Keira or Kiera
Alessandra
Alexia

Also, I don’t think [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is too much! It flows very well. If you go with [name_f]Keira[/name_f], [name_f]Kiera[/name_f], or [name_f]Alexia[/name_f] you could do:
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Alexia[/name_f] Fidah
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] Kiera/Keira [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
