Rosevear

I’ve just discovered this beautifully evocative Cornish place/surname name. I’m thinking it’s a bit out there for a first but could make a lovely romantic middle - a twist on the ubiquitous [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. What do you think?

I’m pretty much in the “anything goes in the middle” club. As an American, this name was a little confusing at first though. I thought it was someone trying to make “[name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m]” cool or something.

I would say that there are prettier Cornish place names like Morvah or Amylle but Rosevear could definitely work for someone especially in the middle.

Ooh no I think Rosevear is much prettier than Morvah or Amylle! [name_m]Just[/name_m] goes to show how personal naming tastes are  I love that the “-vear” ending is sort of sharp, spiky and almost masculine to balance out pretty, classic [name_f]Rose[/name_f], plus it reminds me of the mystical, uber-romantic [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f].

My first thought was [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] (which I love) and I see the appeal. It looks a little off imo, but sounds nice. I agree it would make a really good, strong whimisical, but grounded middle.

I think it’s a very pretty name! Its sound reminds me of Nordic names
I find it very much usable as a first or middle, plus it has some great nicknames! You could even get [name_u]Rory[/name_u] from it

You know I love Cornish names, generally as middles. Rosevear has great middle name potential … although great as a first too for those a bit more daring! Rosenwyn is my favourite Cornish ‘rose’ name, but Rosevear is lovely!

Ooh! So pretty!

This is one I have thought about too - lovely to see it come up! I think it’s gorgeous and very usable.

Rosevear feels so dreamy, dainty, and romantic. I’ve never heard of it before, but I’d love to hear it in real life. It’s very unusual, but it’s easy to pronounce and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- names are common so it feels more familiar, making it accessible even for a first.

And I agree with @katinka, Rosevear is much lovelier than Morvah or Amylle to me!

I think it’s absolutely beautiful! I could see it working as a first or middle. I’ve never heard it before, but it reminds me of names like [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f]. it’s gorgeous.

Gorgeous name! very strong but beautiful, a great addition to all the great [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- names.

I actually love this! So simple and classy, yet approachable and underused. It’s beautiful, and would make a great middle. I might actually have to add this to my own list…
